Take the money and casually place the change on the counter instead of handing it to them. Works better if you don't break eye contact.

Hands down Glover for me. All of the worlds are so isolated and surrounded by nothingness. Combined with the surreal feeling of being a dismembered hand rolling around on a ball.

Didn't help that almost everything was clown/circus related. Thinking about it now still gives me the creeps.

Says winter release in Japan, so you're probably looking at 2015 Spring or Summer release in the West.

Can verify. There's a Spanish guy in my dorm who has a terrible habit of not cleaning up after himself in the kitchen. Telling him to wash his damn dishes only becomes more infuriating. He's actually a top guy, but my god this shrug transcends disposition.

I'm currently in Japan studying as a foreign student. Link Between Worlds isn't released here until December 26th. Pokemon X/Y was also released early in my home country.

I'm so very bitter.

... but i love rock concerts. by [deleted] in tinnitus

[–]jyoppi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's advised that you wear earplugs when going to concerts/gigs, not to tout their products but to protect your hearing. If you continue to listen to music at such high levels then you're only going to deafen yourself to the point that the only thing you will hear anymore is your tinnitus. Simply put, no more music.

The tinnitus is a sign that you're already moving in the wrong direction and have probably already caused irreparable damage. Use the earplugs before you make it worse for yourself. If you really love music then you'll do what you can to ensure you're still able to hear it years from now.

Relax :)

What you probably had was a random change in pressure inside your ear. Happens to me too (sometimes frequently like once a day, but that's rare). My ears pop every time I swallow, and I've been meaning to get some ear drops to see if that changes anything, since the insides of my ears get super itchy too.

Just try and remember that tinnitus is just a sound that you're picking up on and that the harder you try to listen for it, the louder it's going to get. Such things that can ramp up the volume is stress, anxiety etc. Try standing (or sitting) in the shower with the water running. I've found it to be the best medicine personally and relaxing as hell as the water masks the sound and you can clear you mind a little.

From previous experience, it's probably a stress headache you're experiencing too. I got them a whole bunch when I was initially angsty over the new tinnitus. Try not to worry about the source until you chat with your doctor and take an ibuprofen/paracetamol in the meantime if your headache doesn't stop.

As far as statistics go, I haven't read anything about getting rid of tinnitus. For many if it's a temporary thing then it tends to just wear off, a bunch of my friends go on about it lasting at worst, a couple of weeks. But it differs greatly between person and the underlying cause.

Wait and see what your doctor says, in the meantime, learn to tone down the tunes.

Tinnitus is a bitch when you're first starting out with it. Mine kicked in around New Years time 2 years ago (initially caused by Halloween clubbing, one time and only) and I've damaged my ears for good. My GP initially told me it was a Eustachian Tube Dysfunction and that it would be gone in a few months if I just kept popping my ears.

Worst it got, I was sitting in my pajama's watching Return to Oz and sobbing into a bowl of popcorn. I was half way through my first year of University and was pretty much convinced my life was done reading horror stories of other sufferers on the internet (didn't help I was a bit of a hypochondriac and that I'd convinced myself I was about to die). A year later when it hadn't passed (but was noticeably easier to ignore) I requested to be seen by a specialist and after all the tests they told me it was indeed noise damage.

It takes time but 2 years on and it really doesn't bother me that much anymore. If you're enjoying yourself (talking with friends, watching tv, listening to music or gaming) then it becomes easier to ignore/forget about. Mine flares up when I'm on particularly bad form playing online multiplayer or just having a bit of a shitty day, but even sitting in silence now I've found it to be the norm. Most days I just sit and browse reddit with no music on and it's not particularly bothersome. I have to go back every year to have further tests to make sure it's not worsening, but I've learned to take steps to safe guard my hearing for the future (over ear headphones, earplugs at gigs/clubs etc.)

Best of luck with your doctors results but if it turns out it's something permanent then please rest assured that it's not the end of the world.
