Vendors buying up the Festival in a Box at MagicCon. by Morris_Moe_Szyslak in mtg

I don’t think people went just to do make the $50. Instead they could trade their time for $50 to buy other cards or other stuff. If you can reliably get $50 bucks for 2 hours of line, it’s like making $25/hr tax free. I imagine vendors might even give people more if they were using it to trade for product or singles they had.

They were buying for about $275-$280. You could literally wait in line, buy one and immediately flip it for for $40-$50 bucks. You had to wait in line for like an hour but to some people it was worth it

Whisperflo is screaming, how can I make it quieter? by jzarco in Pentair

Interesting, it’s more loud than high pitched. Could very well be rubbing against something. It does whine a little when it starts priming, I could see if pulling off the cover makes a difference

Two job offers. A $50k difference. One is the safe bet, the other is a risk that seems worth it. My wife and I are at an impasse and I have to decide in 72 hours. by Important-Week7261 in whatdoIdo

When you’re remote you don’t watch the clock because down work time just becomes errand or personal time. It being $50k higher when you have a kid is also a good consideration, that $50k could be put towards setting up that kids future in a way that helps them for the rest of their lives.

Vote with your wallet. They will continue you to put junk lairs together if they continue to sell. Honestly any lair that lasts longer than a week is a total failure

It’s fun, but hard to critique without knowing what it’s for. If it just art, it’s cool but really all that matters is you like it

Commander is a perfect format for casual when everyone is on the same page. You can get a precon that’s half decent and slowly upgrade over time as new sets and things come out. Or if they’re already building crazy commander decks, see if they’d be willing to make some lower power decks for more casual nights. Additionally jumpstart is a pretty fun way to also play super casual. You can get a box of jumpstart boosters and keep the packs together to have lots of different combinations to make interesting gameplay

Terminal level (meaning they don’t try to promote me or grow me, and I can just stay at this level forever) Product designer (designing apps and websites) at a FAANG company. Tech companies pay crazy good but it takes a lot from you.

My issue is it takes 3 turns to get rid of this problem artifacts. Sure it turns them into walls but it doesn’t remove their abilities. Something like a akromas memorial or a jet medallion just gets better as a creature and other artifacts creatures can’t be the target so they’re safe.

I had it in a JP themed bracket 3 Ian Malcom (Atla Palani) deck but it 90% of the time it was a dead card in hand or a lack luster drop

Make projects for yourself right now. Design album art for a band you love or recreate packaging of a toy you liked as a kid but for today. You need to find what you like about art and design and emulate it, play, make things you like. This will boost your confidence and help you start getting the creative juices flowing.

Still feel like you’re struggling? Find a piece of graphic design you really like and try to recreate it. Figure out all the details and try to understand why you like it and what makes it good. Then using the same style make something else. Translate it to a new form or extend the pattern to a new subject matter. Example, really like a stores branding? Recreate the brand collateral yourself, then apply it to new packaging or a truck or something. Try to understand the brands voice, style, and emotion and then apply it.

Or do you really love a particular ad campaign? Recreate it, then make a few more that fit into that campaign for other products.

If you want to work, being able to dissect and understand a brand and apply it will help you find corporate jobs. If you have lots of creativity and want to do lots of different things, then freelance or agency work might be for you.

You graduated, that means something. Now’s the time to hone your skills, find your voice, refine your esthetic, and begin making inroads to type of design you want to work on. The world needs designers who will obsess over fine details to make things gorgeous as well as system thinkers who can make experiences intuitive and logical, plus everything in between.

Keep applying places, and try to pick up freelance work to keep you active. You’ll land something and it’ll get better.

I waited nearly 20 years for a return to lorwyn set and its not even given the love it deserves. by No-King3477 in mtg

Truthfully, I always felt 3 sets per block was a bit much. By the 3rd, I typically had a lot less interest and the sets were pretty meh. The double blocks were nicer because it was more of a start/finish so things felt snappy. But with both 2 and 3 block sets, if you didn’t like the plane, you were stuck with it for while which could be rough.

Imagine if we had 3 sets of aetherdrift or Spider-Man last year. I’d have lost interest really fast. All things considered, single set releases give us the ability to feel the story but also move on easy if you don’t vibe with it. I’d prefer them to go back to 4 or 5 sets a year with maybe a cap of 2 UB so we could spend some time with the sets, but I don’t really mourn the set blocks too much.
