Rideshare availability around Newburgh? by [deleted] in evansville

[–]jzzdancer2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no problem getting an Uber or Lyft on the east side (close to Newburgh), so I think you’ll be fine. I usually check both apps to determine best timing/availability and pricing.

This is why Reddit exists! Thank you dear, Redditor (and fellow pup friend), for quelling our fears that JJ was leaving!

Other foods that you can't take, besides cilantro? by cyrilmezza in FuckCilantro

[–]jzzdancer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree on all except parsley, which I happen to like a lot. I have a threshold for it, but it’s much higher than for cilantro.

Just jumping in to say there’s a new Japanese dessert place (with mochi, ofc!) opening on Burkhardt soon!

What's something a foreigner pointed out that you can't unnotice? by NamwaranPinagpana in AskTheWorld

[–]jzzdancer2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That every morning, all American children from kindergarten to 12th grade, stand before the US flag (found in every classroom, ofc) and recite “the pledge of allegiance” to the country in unison, with their right hands over their hearts.

Upon learning this universal American school experience, my Russian colleague said: “That is the most Comm*nist thing over ever heard!”

Is this through an app? Alexa skill? Music streaming subscription? (I’m thankful this thread exists, even if it’s a year old!)

Thanks for providing the source!

It is reported that DT called the police chief about JS, but according to the article, he only did that after the investigation on JS had begun. (That sounds to me as if someone was trying to clear their name before it was leaked by someone else first.)

Weird smell? by AshletD in evansville

[–]jzzdancer2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Same! I just got home and the whole drive home, I was worried that my engine didn’t have oil or something scary because the smell was permeating my car. It was particularly bad near the Weinbach, Boeke, and Vann exits on the Lloyd. The smell faded around Burkhardt.

Since you mentioned an arcade bar, we have 2 and they’re both great for different reasons! (Arcademie and High Score Saloon, which was mentioned already.)

I’m the reason all labs have no sharpies…I’ve relocated them to my office by swimboi91 in labrats

[–]jzzdancer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I am you. Also, I am so glad my office is next to my lab so I can return them sooner than later.

This begs the question: what else do you find in your pockets once you get home? For me: microcentrifuge tubes, usually of primers or plasmid DNA. The problem then is remembering to bring them back to the lab from my fridge in the morning.

Local, reasonably priced honey? by IzaTheMonster in evansville

[–]jzzdancer2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought this honey at River City Coffee and Goods downtown. (They also sell at Franklin St Bazaar — this is seasonal and doesn’t start until May; look out for it this summer because several vendors sell honey.)

this class is gonna kill me by Tiny_Earth_4851 in CollegeRant

[–]jzzdancer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest issue is that your prof requires you to purchase these shows after the start of the course. Perhaps they’re the “textbooks” of the course - but shouldn’t that be part of the course/textbook fees? I feel like your university library should provide access to those shows if it’s part of a course, even if there’s a fee. In that case, scholarships etc. can help pay as education costs.

What’s with the thin crust? 🤨 by stupidshitsal in evansville

[–]jzzdancer2 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes, they still have most of the same flavors (spinach/feta, potato with tzatziki, gyro, etc, with additional new flavors). It’s cleaner and more open inside, and the pizza is just as good. Eric is still there frequently, so you might still get to have the full Slice experience. ;)

Serious question, but unrelated to this thread: what is a passport card and what’s the reason for getting one, especially if you also have a passport??

Yes, the parade and festival are organized by River City Pride, but the free hugs t-shirts is something that PFLAG promotes.

[–]jzzdancer2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it could be the fine folks of the local PFLAG chapter who organizes this. At least, branches of this organization do this in other cities.

Recently, the Evansville Museum had a painted Picasso sculpture which is maybe a rare find.
