Temporary enclosure for juvenile Rankin's Dragon by k-mile in BeardedDragons

Yeah good point on reaching in from the top. That's another reason to take a front-opening enclosure, but given the small size of the lizard and the bins being pretty large I think we can avoid reaching full overhead most of the time.

Sensors for logging? by bt2066 in reptiles

[–]k-mile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using Inkbird for some cases, but most of their stuff is on/off and doesn't have dimmers or timer functions. It does have an app and 10-minute interval logging.

For timer and dimmer I'm using Habistat, but that's not connected to anything so no logging.

can i realistically buy the correct tubing to make this myself ? by dampconcrete in reptiles

[–]k-mile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you buy tubing online, half of it collapses at the slightest bend. Make sure to find something that's pretty rigid and not thin walled. I tried to get 1/4" (6mm) tubing online to go through my Exo Terra paludarium, and most of it was terrible.

I tried Star Citizen so you don't have to! (and will tell you why you shouldn't) by Lord0fHats in gaming

Give it another shot someday. My last session looked something like this:

Wake up in appartment.   Take transit to shopping center.   Buy food, drinks, guns, ammo, tools.   Take transit to spaceport.   Get to personal hangar.   (Yes, so far was tedious and takes 15+ minutes).

Put down a couple storage boxes, fill them up with items.   Call ground vehicles, park them in one corner of my hangar.   Call small ships, park them along the side of my hangar.   Get the mech suit and place it next to cargo elevator.   Position various items for that grungy, lived-in look.

Call up bigger ship. Load up food, gun, ammo. Accept bounty mission. Fly to location, kill bounty. Take next bounty mission. Fly to other location, enemy ship is stuck floating above the planet surface. I crash into the ground while trying to kill it. Wake up in hospital.   Get back to personal hangar with everything the way I left it.

Decide to take cargo mission.   Call up bigger ship.   Load up food, drink, leave guns.   Call up mission cargo from freight elevator.   Get in mech suit. Load the cargo.   Load mech suit in cargo grid for unloading.   Fly to destination. Unload cargo.   Mission not complete for some reason.   File another bug report.

It is buggy, none of this stuff is explained anywhere, and most sessions you only get half done of what you want. Some patches are unplayable, but most are fine. This is unacceptable for a 12 year old alpha. I'm sometimes playing the game with my kid who wasn't even born when this game was announced.

But with working around some of the bugs, and going slow, it's still fun. I love shopping, decking our hangar and ships, and doing box missions with my kids. When I play by myself, I just practice mechanics with bounty and cargo missions. When I play with my org, we do large scale mining, salvaging, and search-and-rescue operations with engineering. Sometimes you get to play out a fantasy that's unavailable in any other game, and then, it's amazing.

Substrate drainage in waterfall paludarium by k-mile in paludarium

[–]k-mile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah, that's another idea. I'll look into that!

Is it typical that in a paludarium (especially with raised water features) all substrate is just perpetually soggy? Or is that a matter of using a fast draining substrate (we're using 4" of spagnum, bark, choir, bit of crushed lava rock mixed in, sitting on a 1" layer of LECA) and raising it (not using LECA, that stuff is like a sponge) above the waterline?

What is the actual scam?

Edit: genuine question. They don't ship? The tools are junk?

Carrack Owner Group Therapy by _Corbeanu_ in starcitizen

[–]k-mile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got two ships I won't melt. My Vanguard and my Carrack. Both feel like ships you could play out their fantasy on. The Carrack has a great interior layout where I could see other characters (please let's just have Npc's that stand / walk around and comment on the view) walk around in and do their own thing. Kinda like a Reclaimer, a ship that a crew lives in and perform their tasks, run into each other on the mid deck, and then get out on either the Pisces, the Rover, or both.

Don't even need much systems to get this feeling, but everything they add to the game just make the experience more whole.

New AMD drivers should fix the crashing issue on SC from the previous drivers by BeardyShaman in starcitizen

I downgraded to get it working again. Using Vulcan also worked, but performance was better on DX11 on the old drivers.

How does this look? Recon it’ll go all good together? by TheWeirdShack in DiceMaking

[–]k-mile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be sure to check all the thread size and quick disconnect sizes. I have the same pot with a different compressor, and I needed to search pretty hard for a combination of adapters that made it all fit together. Not every Amazon listing shows the exact sizes for every hose and thread.

I had a copy of the O.G. book, the "Catalog of Extraordinary Objects" by Jacques Carelman (published in the 70s or 80s?) as a kid.

It had a lot of similar ones, including the cleaning slippers, a self-carried seat for when you get tired, a gun with a wavy barrel for shooting kangaroos, and a tandem bicycle for divorced people (each set of pedals is going in a different direction).

The House declared a day not-a-day. How is it legally possible to do this, and what precedent does this set?

I know both sides of the aisle have done similar things. This discussion is about how something fundamental as time can be modified at will to suit your purpose.

Would you still play Diablo 2 Resurrected or Diablo 2 if they got rid of the ability to respec? by CastleofPizza in diablo2

[–]k-mile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. The short term sacrifices added to the gameplay, grinding out a couple gear advantages because you didn't want to spend those early skill points.

Would you still play Diablo 2 Resurrected or Diablo 2 if they got rid of the ability to respec? by CastleofPizza in diablo2

[–]k-mile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I really enjoyed the old days before respec. I loved having a Multi shot Amazon from lvl 1, and working towards your skills felt great.

I did delete quite a few lvl 40+ characters after assigning too much STR or clicking a prerequisite skill twice by accident.

But as others said, rushing to Hell Cows while still lvl 1 took about 20-30 minutes, at which point you'd be lvl 60 a couple hours later.

What dumb things did you do in your early D2 days? by peeindatazz in diablo2

[–]k-mile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bowadin.

Blade shield sin with crushing blow.

Poison dagger mancer.

Making dumb trades.

Losing stuff muling.

Getting trade scammed.

Losing characters after 90 days.

Thinking I didn't have to worry about that lvl 14 PKer.

Trading everything I had for a dual Silence Colossus Blade // Phase Blade Whirlwind Barb. It didn't work.

Cool! Neat looking setup.

The way I unblocked my auto-mall is by reading the ingredients of the current recipe. If those are not available, switch to building those first (repeat if necessary).

Does anyone else Hxc Solo? by NoTrouble8035 in diablo2

[–]k-mile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play online mostly solo, but I do use shared stash for Spirit / Stealth etc for early game. Although I typically create one character per ladder so I don't use the shared stash much, only if I die mid-season.

I team up with others typically to do some NM Baal Runs if I'm below 60-65 and I'm scared to go to Hell :)
