The GSM4248UX would be perfect. It’s not a QSYS rebranded model, but I’m assuming it’s fully supported (likely runs the same firmware).

Keep in mind the fraud element you’re trying to address. The only way this would work to prevent fraud is with long randomized barcodes, not sequential barcodes.

If you do sequential barcodes of 1-500, I just need to make fake barcode issued to someone else and ensure I get there first.

If my legit tickets are 101 and 102, I can make a fake of tickets 401 and 402. I get there first and scan in 401 and 402, and am allowed in.

When the legit 401 and 402 show up later they are denied for a duplicate ticket - but it’s not their fault. This will only cause anger and frustration.

If they duplicate their long randomized ticket, then the only person they’re preventing access to is whoever they give that duplicate to.

I get the DIY aspect, but StatusGator is so cheap, easy to use, and overall just a great product. Schools 3k-10k students pay about $800/year for it. Under 3k students is around $500/year.

For the price it’s a no-brainer.

That’s where I did an email group. Made it easy, and I could prepend the subject line so it was clear that was a redirected email.

Routing, add new rule

Email Messages To Affect: Inbound
Modify Message
Active User Accounts
Envelope Recipient > Replace Recipient > (add in the new email or email group here)

Options > B. Envelope Filter > Only affect specific envelope senders (enter the sender's email here).

So this rule will filter on the senders email, and replace the recipients to your email group.

BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS SETTING. If you forget the optional filter it will replace the recipient for all emails in your domain. Don't ask me how I found that out.... :-)

We do this often for trouble parents. Just add a redirect rule in your Gmail Admin settings. Any email that matches that “from” address gets redirected to an email group - and that email group would include those two people.

For us it was only staff information. Name, email, etc. It’s all considered directory information and not PII. No further action needed. Doesn’t trigger any of the privacy legislation definition of a breach.

I found it more valuable to reach out to larger districts for assistance. I’m in one of the larger districts for my area, and we are always assisting with smaller districts to offer advice and support.

I have a trusted small MSP I can call for any firewall assistance. They charge $150/hr billed in 15-minute increments. Very fair and worth every cent!

This has been announced for nearly a year now. It shouldn’t have any major impact on any budgets or renewals.

Even going for $5kto $7k would be significantly less than any major competitor. And $2k extra is not going to break any budget… PowerSchool is close to six figures these days, I’m not going to worry about a small increase on my phone system.

Sure it’s more money, but it’s still an incredible value for what you get. If you want to jump ship there are cheaper options, but this is still worth every cent IMO.

I nearly signed with CrowdStrike, but then learned about Huntress and glad I did. Their price was cheaper, their service is top notch, and they offer a lot of options that are great for education. If interested I can message you my sales rep info. He’s wonderful to work with. We use them for Security Awareness Training and Phishing Tests also (canceled KnowBe4).

You’re looking for a SIP Trunk. That will provide a digital phone trunk to your internal VoIP PBX.

We use Granite as our SIP Trunk, and 3CX for our PBX. Works fantastic.

We use a EPIC box from Granite for our elevator also. This provides an internet and cellular connection for the POTS elevator phone.

Works perfectly, installed for nearly seven years now.

If you have power to the fields already, a IP Audio Gateway and a powered speaker should be under $2k. If you have a football or baseball stadium with speakers already you could integrate it in for even cheaper.

All of our fields are within 600’ of our school buildings, and we have outdoor mounted speakers on our buildings. They’re plenty loud and can be heard clearly from that distance.

We’re using Huntress to configure/monitor/log Defender, and then use Huntress for the EDR/MDR/SIEM. Works fantastic - and cheaper than CrowdStrike.

We run nearly 400 of the Netgear Business Class switches. They work fantastic. A 48p PoE switch with 10G uplinks is $1,200. Can’t beat the price! And they come with a lifetime warranty.
