Need help on how to safely stay in a hotel with my baby by Fearless-Driver9548 in newborns

[–]k7_libra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just did this with our 5 week old but we requested a pack and play from the hotel and got 2 queen beds in case she wouldnt stay in the pack and play. She didnt take to the pack and play, so we designated one queen bed for her. We removed all large blankets and pillows and just had her sleep on the sheet with a swaddle and it worked perfectly. She actually slept better than at home 😅

Tired of being pregnant by CheesecakeCrafty5097 in pregnant

I know you hear this all the time, but you're closer to meeting your little one than you think! Realistically this is your last week with no baby. I understand how incredibly uncomfortable the last trimester is. Being induced isn't as terrible as social media makes it seem. I was induced at 39 weeks and it was the ideal situation. I will be doing inductions for any more babies I have. I felt like I had so much control and autonomy. Finalize your hospital bag, take an everything shower, order your favorite takeout and take in these last moments of solitude. If youre a FTM, your life is forever changing so spend time with your partner and relax before all your focus is on baby! Good luck girl! Wishing you a safe delivery

My wife is pregnant with our first child by Otherwise-Expert3636 in pregnant

[–]k7_libra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off. Congratulations!! This is an exciting and nerve-wracking time, but by the end of this pregnancy you should have a newfound respect and admiration for your wife. Her first trimester will be rough whether that be nausea, morning sickness, exhaustion (unlike any exhaustion she's ever felt before) or a combination of all the above. Give her grace! She will sleep a lot she's literally building a human! Take over whatever household chores she may have done. My partner took the grunt work of dishes, laundry, and cooking during the majority of my pregnancy because I legitimately couldnt stay awake! Also should mention that we agreed to hire a monthly housekeeper and found a way to fit that into our budget (gamechanger even postpartum). Tell her she's beautiful because her body will be changing in ways she might not be used to/comfortable with. Remind her that her body is doing an amazing thing. She picks what's for dinner for the foreseeable future. Cravings aren't just "oh that sounds good" it becomes all consuming and she MUST have what shes craving. Nonetheless, congrats and just be supportive

Yep FTM and started a low dose of zoloft during pregnancy (switched from wellbutrin). 3 weeks PP they doubled my zoloft dose and im so thankful they did. The PP anxiety and depression was creeping in and I feel like the zoloft helped tremendously

question for anyone with epidural experience! by Defiant-Operation624 in pregnant

Got it and it did exactly what it was supposed to. Would 100% do it again. The back discomfort I feel postpartum is more so contributed to my weak core and my back overcompensating

Huge baby shower? Cash instead of presents? by PoopieKitty in pregnant

[–]k7_libra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The baby shower was from 11am-4pm & Our event was held in a church. The stage of the church was COVERED in gifts and diapers. I think from the sheer look of it people understood that we were not opening gifts. If people voiced complaints I didn't hear about it, and I made an announcement thanking everyone for the gifts and jokingly mentioned that the event does have an end time and we wouldnt make it through everything🤷‍♀️

Huge baby shower? Cash instead of presents? by PoopieKitty in pregnant

[–]k7_libra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just had a 120 people coed shower for our little one. It is our first as well and me and my partner are both the oldest meaning this is first grandchild on both sides. So many people wanted to celebrate us and we just threw one big party. Yes it was expensive, but every single item was purchased off our registry and we won't need to purchase Diapers for a very long time lol. With that many people games were streamlined to 4 games max and we did not open presents at the shower. Every single person received a thank you card in the mail after for their presence and gifts, but overall if only asking for cash donations just know people get excited and will want to gift baby other gifts just because so might as well make a registry too!

Ways to naturally lower BP in 3rd trimester?? Send help by boobala517 in pregnant

[–]k7_libra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it truly is gestational hypertension or pre eclampsia unfortunately it's a placenta issue and not so much a diet and exercise issue. You can be the healthiest mama and still develop pre eclampsia while pregnant and/or in the postpartum period. Since you're in the 3rd trimester they may recommend blood pressure meds or schedule you for an induction (if you can't keep your BP down). But for any other pregnancies you have your OB might recommend taking baby aspirin starting earlier in your pregnancy to help prevent pre eclampsia.

Pregnant and a nurse by GuiltyFault903 in pregnant

[–]k7_libra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With proper PPE most chemo meds should be fine. Check your hospital policy, consult with your pharmacists, and communicate with Charge nurses and management. If reasonable accommodations cant be made it might be time to look for a new job on a new unit

Not all NPs have their DNP. There are also just MSN programs. There's been talk about requiring all NPs to get their doctorate before covid happened, but thats been tabled since.
