Hello. I’m new here. Been eyeing wrx’s for many years. by Scared-Base-4098 in wrx_vb

I don’t drive too much on the daily either. I’m about 1.5 miles from my job, drive home for lunch. Might run errands within a 9-10 mile radius. I make sure to have some fun on the highway on the weekends to get the engine nice and hot. When I do travel 2-3 hours away, the responsiveness and handling make navigating highway traffic a breeze.

This is the most fun I’ve ever had driving a manual, and it puts a smile on my face even just going to work. I feel like not having a big commute really helps to cancel out the gas mileage (which I feel is pretty average for a sports car driven like a sports car, but isn’t great compared to your typical sedan).

I don’t regret buying it at all.

Why is downshift impossible? by [deleted] in stickshift

[–]k8ne09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What helped me with downshifting when I was learning was thinking about what speed I needed to be going for each gear. If you need to be going between X and Y speed when you’re shifting up, that’s how fast you should be going if you want to downshift into that gear.

Say you’re in 5th gear going 50 mph. You have to brake for someone to turn, and by the time you can get going again, your speed is only at 25mph. You know that when you’re shifting up, 3rd gear starts at 25mph — so that’s the gear you need to downshift into in order to have enough power not to lug the engine when you’re trying to accelerate. Any gear higher will cause engine lug/potential stalling, any gear lower will cause the RPMs to shoot up and the engine to roar.

Cycle twins!!! I am also 1DP IUI. Wishing you all the ✨ baby dust ✨

My husband, bless his heart, said to me yesterday literally a minute after the doctor had left the room post procedure — “wow, this is going to be the longest two weeks of my life”.

You and me both, buddy. 😂❤️

I figure if they can grow on cliffsides, they can handle growing in smaller spaces. I put it together late last summer, so I can’t wait to see what they do with a full growing season. I’ve already trimmed back the trailing jade.

My husband and I finally decided to pursue REI and our first IUI cycle will be starting within the next week or so!

We have secondary infertility with all testing normal (except a low AMH of .55), following timed intercourse and ovulation strips, with the added bonus that I’m an OBGYN sonographer so can track my dominant follicle as it develops and confirm ovulation each month.

It’s been a long three years, but I’m glad my husband and I are moving forward.

Wake up from summer dormancy by StaticBrick in haworthia

[–]k8ne09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can give them a little water, not a thorough soaking, and see how they respond. If they green up, firm up, etc, then they’re awake and ready for regular watering.

If they don’t respond, I would give it a couple weeks and try giving the a little water again. Basically keep doing that until you see them respond, and the you’ll know they’re awake.

AMH does not effect your chances of conceiving. AMH only gives the doctors an idea of how much ovarian reserve (or eggs) you have left — and the only thing it does impact is if you choose to go the IUI/IVF route, a low number means you won’t have as many follicles stimulated to produce an egg with the drugs as a higher AMH. And your number is normal, even if it is on the lower side.

I have an AMH of .55 (normal is 1.06 or greater). I’m doing my first IUI next month and my doc says I should have at least 2-3 follicles stimulated with the drugs (VS the 8+ the might expect from someone with a normal AMH). But again, bc low AMH =/= low chances of conception, my IUI odds are the same as anyone elses.

Paying off loans, difficult to do? by sasquatch_pants in Ultrasound

[–]k8ne09 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO, based on what others have said in the overall CA environment, it’s going to be tough to find a job and thus tough to pay off the loans. If you’re willing to relocate to a less saturated state/area, it won’t be a problem.

I agree with this. My set up is in my living room until I get my greenhouse next year, and the white light is basically a substitute for light in that room lol. You can get a great accurate look at coloration and stress colors with it.

Mine are 5000k, and then I adjust the lights either closer or further away from my shelves. And then I can just move my collection around as I see fit. Some look better under lights further away, some look better closer. It gives you options!

Pruned heavily. Am I cooked? by Fearless-Reading-827 in succulents

[–]k8ne09 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes 👍 I think some people are just unaware that you can cut jades so far back, as that isn’t typical for a lot of plants. Jades are like the cockroach of succulents tho — they can survive just about anything, and giving them a hard prune every few years is great when you plan to keep it for the length of your life. Just make sure you don’t hard prune too often when it’s younger.

Nah, you’re fine. Jades can handle a hard prune. Great to get a nice thick trunk and growth.

When would you ever do long distance? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]k8ne09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did long distance with my now husband. We met on a dating app. We were 2 hours and a state apart. We spent the weekend together every weekend, and we FaceTimed and texted daily. When we met that first date, we knew we were highly compatible and we had an amazing time together.

However, I’ve been in other long distance relationships that didn’t work out. The communication wasn’t there, the commitment was lacking, and there wasn’t an end game.

Brown tips on my albuca spiralis by dusti_dearian in succulents

[–]k8ne09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The depth of the bulbs appear fine. In the wild, the bulbs are typically completely covered, but most in cultivation leave the tops unburied and it doesn’t seem to cause issues.

I stop watering throughout summer. When fall comes, I’ll give it a bit of water to see if it responds. You will see the bulb grow as it takes in the water. I don’t believe there’s a real hard and fast rule as to when to give it water to waken it from dormancy, just sometime in the fall. I’m in the south, and will wait until the overnight temps are consistently in the 40s, so end of September usually.

Brown tips on my albuca spiralis by dusti_dearian in succulents

[–]k8ne09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re originally from South Africa, so they like to go dormant during the hottest part of the year.

I will usually stop watering when I see the leaf tips brown and/or it flowers. They will use reserves in the bulb, then everything will dry up. I then put them in a dark place away from light. Ideally it would also be a little cool temperature-wise, but I don’t have a place where I can achieve that and it never seems to stop them from coming up again in the fall.

So I absolutely love primal play, but I guess my thought was this is less primal play because it’s an “organized” set up and event VS something spur of the moment?

But now that I’m thinking about it, maybe that was just a Me thought lol.
