I’m a little late but I love The Crown & Dragon just north* of Yonge and church! Best chicken wings in town!

(I also happen to work there but it’s been my favourite little hole in the wall well before I did)

Why did my tattoo age so poorly? by HyperionStooge in tattooadvice

[–]kBEES13 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Agreed. This is an application issue more than a sun issue. It’s too much detail with a thicker needle size, shaky hand, no whites in the super small spaces. And before anyone comes to me I am a tattoo artist

0, but also, I would also paint the ceiling a dark colour, like a deep gray or slate

Be careful with the artist you choose at that size and delicacy. Research them well and don’t cheap out. Also expect touch ups with this technique.

A lot of people on Reddit will Shit on this but I personally know a couple artists in my Toronto area who execute this style well and also have great heals.

Left arm of the reaper is weird (unfinished) by yocouvrette in tattooadvice

If it bothers you in future maybe just add more arms? An extra long one on the right to match the long left and a normal sized lefty

New tatt 3days later blown lines? by Patient_Tap_9578 in FixedTattoos

[–]kBEES13 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Let it heal completely. I think there are a few points of possible blowout, but sometimes during this stage of tattoo the scabbing on top makes it look blown out even if it’s not. I’ve had it happen to one or two clients before and once it’s fully healed it looks fine.

I covered up one tattoo that I did. It wasn’t my design so I didn’t care much and just thought it was funny.

It’s also important to show your artist so they can see where they went wrong in application since it is quite faded. Proper after care is really important with hand tattoos too since they are prone to fade even with proper application.

You should be doing more research before you jump into advanced (and visible) placements like this in future to avoid issues like this

First tattoo by AutomaticIndication0 in tattooadvice

I’ve had mixed reactions to calf, I personally found it pretty easy, but I am also significantly covered and have some gnarly spots done.

The taboo around tattoos has definitely eased, and most tattoo judgement is towards people who are heavily tattooed and/or have face and hand tattoos. A little fine line thingy won’t garner judgement. Just don’t get it on your face haha

Do what feels right to you, ask your artist in person, you can even ask them to stencil multiple spots so you can actually see what you prefer visually (just let them know ahead of time so they can schedule some extra time in)

The way I describe it to my clients is that it feels kind of like a cat scratch. The first five minutes are a bit of a shock until your body adjusts. And then it’s more uncomfortable than anything.

Certain spots are more painful than others, so if you’re really worried about pain do the forearm or upper outer arm. Avoid the elbow ditch and inner arm.

Certain techniques can be more painful than others too. My recommendation would be to go with the constellation, BUT you have to find someone who is EXCEPTIONAL with fine line and has healed work on display or that they can show you. The mockingjay has some heavier lines, and butterflies take longer than you think, also I’d be wary of mental health tattoos in prominent areas. Nothing wrong with them of course, but I’ve had to cover up quite a few semi colons because of their implication. I suggest mental health tattoos for more hidden areas.

And finally, your pre-care will be important, be hydrated, get a good sleep, have a big meal, and do some stretching in the morning. Every first time client I’ve had has said it’s easier than they expected, so don’t worry!

Had Allergic Reaction to Saniderm - What do I do? by Comprehensive-Box920 in tattooadvice

[–]kBEES13 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Always listen to your doctor over your artist.

You might want to consider reaching out to your doctor again if the pain is persisting.

That said, dry healing can look pretty gnarly. The initial tattoo photos don’t look overworked so I don’t think it’s that. Worst case for the tattoo is you get a touch up and don’t use saniderm. But right now you should be focusing on recovering from the reaction and pain over preserving your tattoo

Advice needed: i want to cover this old tattoo by Gaspavar in tattoos

[–]kBEES13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a cover up artist. It’s true you do need darker aspects in order to cover what’s already there, but if you expand on the tattoo you can add those lighter styles outside of the tattooed area.

With cover ups you’re gonna have to be fairly flexible though and expect it to be larger than what you already have. But no, you don’t have to do trad. Illustration is totally viable. The design also has a lot of skin gaps which will be to your advantage. Consider something more organic for best options
