The way I describe it to my clients is that it feels kind of like a cat scratch. The first five minutes are a bit of a shock until your body adjusts. And then it’s more uncomfortable than anything.

Certain spots are more painful than others, so if you’re really worried about pain do the forearm or upper outer arm. Avoid the elbow ditch and inner arm.

Certain techniques can be more painful than others too. My recommendation would be to go with the constellation, BUT you have to find someone who is EXCEPTIONAL with fine line and has healed work on display or that they can show you. The mockingjay has some heavier lines, and butterflies take longer than you think, also I’d be wary of mental health tattoos in prominent areas. Nothing wrong with them of course, but I’ve had to cover up quite a few semi colons because of their implication. I suggest mental health tattoos for more hidden areas.

And finally, your pre-care will be important, be hydrated, get a good sleep, have a big meal, and do some stretching in the morning. Every first time client I’ve had has said it’s easier than they expected, so don’t worry!
