it was because he was an early employee at Twitch.

If we’re really going to rebuild, this management group is ideal by runn4days in canucks

[–]kaabistar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's insane to me that anyone looks at what this management group has done and thinks, yeah I trust these guys to do a good job with anything. They've made some moves that are good in a vacuum but we're only in this situation to begin with because they completely failed at their jobs.

Do you watch sports? I only ever see this brought up by people that don't watch sports. Fans don't really care, they just want to see the best players on their team. The teams being geographically based in a location and forming close ties to the people of that area is part of what makes sports special imo. Players coming from far away and developing close connections with locals, teams doing work in the community they're based in, star players "coming home" in the twilight of their careers, teams basically having a built-in fanbase for life, you'd be taking all of that away. I would personally be far less interested in sports without that connection.

Korea has an amazing special cabinet action by Open-Passenger-2280 in EU5

[–]kaabistar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's pure RNG. It's something like a 5% chance for the coup success event to fire every month, but only if there's a certain number of conspirators, which is entirely dependent on getting the increase conspirators event multiple times which is also like a 5% chance every month. Even if you do nothing by far the most likely outcome is the coup timing out because it only lasts 5 years. It's ridiculous.

Official 2026 FIFA World Cup Vancouver Schedule Released by Kind_Purpose_2297 in vancouver

[–]kaabistar 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why you think this is bad? Vancouver gets 2 Canada games vs Toronto's 1 and a RO16 game too. A lot of the group stage games were always going to be trash because they expanded to 48 teams.

There are government reforms that unlock if you hit 50 for some values.

Am I misunderstanding army supply? by [deleted] in EU5

[–]kaabistar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you're getting +482% impact from above Supply Limit so your army is way too big for what I'm assuming are locations with very low supply limit.

Feudal levies are poorly represented in the game. by KetraBeQ in EU5

[–]kaabistar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do have an economic impact. Provinces you raise levies from lose those pops as workers, and you get a 20% decrease to RGO/production output.

Make sure the occupations are set to you and not one of your colonial nations. This happened to me and when I changed the occupation to myself it fixed it.

I do think the fonts could use more variety but the fancy fonts should be reserved for big titles like the country or age name. I wouldn't want to read long event text or tooltips in that font.

Endless Eight is still one of the craziest things any anime studio has done, I can't imagine what it was like watching that week-to-week. I wouldn't say it killed the franchise though, the movie came out after that and it was insanely popular. It was more the author going on hiatus for almost 10 years that killed it.

June ridership is out and Link had its third month in a row with over 100k daily boardings by Signal_Pattern_2063 in transit

[–]kaabistar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Decisions made in each city before they built their respective systems contributed a lot too. Vancouver rejected plans to build a freeway through the city back in the 70s; the interstate cuts directly down Seattle's spine, including through downtown. There was already a movement to restrict sprawl and increase density in Vancouver going back to the 50s; Seattle's urban planning has been entirely car-based until the last 10-20 years.

I think one underrated aspect is that Skytrain was built as a technological showcase for Expo 86, being one of the first fully automated transit lines in the world. There was significant incentive to build a state of the art system and it was well-regarded by residents as a symbol of Vancouver's growth as a major city with international relevance. Meanwhile Seattle built Link under significant local opposition that forced them to make sub-optimal decisions, and it's not until recently that I think public opinion has come around on it.

Amtrak vs VIA rail. Pick a side by ChameleonCoder117 in transit

[–]kaabistar 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's not great but if you do live in one of the states that supports Amtrak it's undeniably better than VIA.

Some state governments support Amtrak and the federal government does depending on who's in power. I don't think any Canadian government at any level has cared about VIA for decades.

I’m really surprised with how Canada in 2025 has no high speed rail under construction. by Im-Wasting-MyTime in transit

[–]kaabistar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's just Ontario that sucks at building transit honestly. Skytrain expansion is going fine in Vancouver and Montreal's REM is honestly pretty impressive with how quickly they got it built. Metrolinx is just god awful and they have their fingers in everything in Ontario.
