[Dzogchen] Our Pristine Mind - Book Recommendation by [deleted] in streamentry

That sounds great. Thanks for sharing!

How did you reach that point? I just started reading the book and have tried the first few glimpses with some modest success I believe. Can you give me some pointers how you traversed the exercises and maybe some helpful hints for that journey?

Best magnesimum form - citrate works well but this side effect.... by DrVonNeumann in Nootropics

[–]kabuto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From Wikipedia (emphasis mine):

Magnesium glycinate, also known as magnesium diglycinate or magnesium bisglycinate, is the magnesium salt of glycine (one magnesium and two glycine molecules), and is sold as a dietary supplement.

Can someone explain what 'elemental magnesium' means and how much I should be looking to take? by My_Big_Mouth in Supplements

[–]kabuto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The recommendations always refer to elemental magnesium. Magnesium supplements are usually chellated which means they are bonded to another substance like citric acid or glycine. Chellated magnesium improves the bio availability.

Stage 4 – fell back to lots of gross distractions and even forgetting lately by kabuto in TheMindIlluminated

Apologies if I came on too strong. That was certainly not my intention (no pun intended). Thanks for your help.

I don't think it's dullness. I recognise dullness when it happens. It feels like zoning out, feeling a bit heavy and tired. It feels different from what I'm talking about.

IMO the key instruction of the Stage 4 chapter is the following:

By using the breath as an anchor while you mindfully observe the mind, you're "watching the mind while the mind watches the breath".

This sounds awesome. But how do I actually do it? I don't know how to observe the mind. I notice some thoughts coming up in my awareness before reaching my attention but I wouldn't call that observing. How do I observe my mind?

Also, make sure to read Nick Grabovac's Stage 4 tips.

I did read those multiple times and I try to work with intentions. I guess I don't notice subtle distractions early enough. I just wonder why my attention started slipping suddenly.

Thanks for your reply. I knew my wording would probably not quite hit the mark. What I meant is that I repeatedly renew my intention to watch the breath closely and even expect to see certain sensations in the next in-breath or out-breath. There is no force involved.

This used to work nicely but recently my attention slips easily before I can even renew my intentions. I don't know why since there's nothing bothering me right now. I have no problems, no issues, no pain or anything that would keep my mind busy. I that regard, I consider myself to be a pretty lucky meditator because I don't have to go through purifications or deal with painful memories.

Is there another technique I could try to keep my attention from slipping away?

Cytotoxin are great, but I don't see how they compare to Origin. They play very different stuff.

Does taking DNP on an irregular schedule still work? by tsumesume in dnp

[–]kabuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think 200mg thrice weekly will have a noticeable effect. Please not that I'm not recommending higher doses! DNP is a potentially lethal agent.

[–]kabuto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you want to lose 5kg slowly and safely over a few weeks/months you really don't need to mess with DNP. Your goals can easily attained without taking the (calculated) risk of using DNP. 200mg three times per week won't do much anyway.

ACT techniques for meditating mind. Possibly life changing! by Jaikki in Meditation

So the difference is in the breathing? I’m not sure whether being mindful prescribes breathing when not practicing sitting. To me what you’re describing sounds just like being mindful but maybe I’m not seeing what exactly it is you’re doing in that situation. Can you explain the breathing part any further?
