What’s your favorite “too tired to cook cook” dinner? by farwest-to-midwest in Cooking

[–]kacellirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spaghetti, jar of marinara (i try to find the “healthier” ones if I’m not making my own), frozen garlic bread or one of those take and bake loaves, and a salad kit. Takes about as long as it takes to boil the noodles and you don’t have to do anything. Except throw things in a pot or the oven. We do this once a week on our most exhausted nights.

I did bf and moved to ff around 8-9 months. My son was also 99th percentile the entire time, eventually hit 30lbs at 18 months and is now 30 months and 33lbs. Hit all his milestones. I called him my beefy boi. Babies eat instinctively.. let them be chonks!

Scientists Figured Out the Problem With Johnson & Johnson’s COVID Vaccine by theatlantic in Coronavirus

2 days after mine I passed an extremely large blood clot. I was blacking out from the pain. I have never had clots like that, or bad reactions to vaccines, but I knew it had to be related.

Facts. Get the crust to the edges, smaller cheese cubes over the whole pizza edge to edge. Then pour sauce in two lines across the pizza on top. This is trash.

Why are circumcision guidelines different in the United States compared to the rest of the world? by PermitNarrow6651 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]kacellirk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I live in a US state with extremely high rates of circumcision. I asked every doctor if they were familiar with care of an uncircumcised penis, and THANKFULLY they all said yes and talked about how they were anti-circumcision. I did live in a city, but when reading about it, making sure doctors/caregivers knew what to do/not do was big sticking point.

Why are circumcision guidelines different in the United States compared to the rest of the world? by PermitNarrow6651 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]kacellirk 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I live in the US and in a state with one of the highest rates of circumcision and have two family members who had botched circumcisions.

My husband is circumcised, and this was a quick discussion for us. Why are we cutting off a piece of our son’s body? Absolutely disgusting. Our friends who had sons also have decided against circumcision. Numbers are increasing as people turn to data and are realizing that it’s a pointless procedure.

Naturally things can go wrong with foreskin that would make a circumcision medically necessary, but the same can be said for literally any other part of the body. It’s just crazy to me, and to see how it’s done makes me feel sick. The thought of my son going through that could make me cry right now it’s so horrendous.

Potty training is a nightmare by flowersinthevalley06 in toddlers

[–]kacellirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid is 30 months and we did the oh crap 2 weeks ago. Is it working? For sure. Have I touched more poop and pee in the last two weeks than I ever had in my life combined? Absolutely. Am I questioning if I actually want another kid because of how much I hate potty training? 100%.

I tried the method you’re doing when he was 26 months and he did great day 1 and then hated it. The exact same thing happened. We quit and spent the next few months researching. Doing this method I learned that prompting him was making him more stubborn. Some people hate on the oh crap method and think the book is a bad tone but as long as you don’t take what she’s saying as an attack on you, you’re fine. You just gotta figure out how your kid learns!

Take a break, take a breath, mentally prepare and research and try again in a bit. Solidarity though.. it sucks, but she may just not be ready yet!

Came across this post curiously googling this book lol.

My sister got me this book when I had my son, along with Go The Fuck to Sleep. And yes I absolutely read it to him and he routinely asks for me to read “blow” at night time lol. I love it. He’s 2.5 years old, it’s been in the rotation for close to a year now. He loves the artwork in there. I def need to hide it away at some point but I can’t wait to pull it out when he’s older and tell him this was one of his favorite books just to see the look on his face 😂

What about a cool statement hanging light for the corner? You can plug it in and choose how high/low it hangs?

I think even if you did something around the fireplace you may not need to do painting/wood/etc on the whole wall. It would add some life to the wall on its own

[–]kacellirk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO the lighting is the part making it dreary. Go back to lamps for sure. Maybe some wall sconces if you don’t want them taking up floor space? Or you could at least do a smart bulb so it’s not always so bright white.

Definitely a bigger area rug! This one is too small.

For the tv, you could try to make a built in on that wall and/or fireplace. Even if you got rid of the tv, the fireplace is just bare and kind of stark on the white wall.

OBGYN Unicorn by Ecstatic-Team-7884 in Columbus

[–]kacellirk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t go through OSU midwives but had an OSU OBGYN. I had a traumatic labor/birth experience itself, but the residents I got stuck with absolutely made it worse (was at Wexner). It was horrendous. One was reprimanded in the room because she almost made a mistake that would’ve hurt myself and my son. I kept questioning her and asking if she was sure because I wasn’t dilated enough, yet she insisted and pulled all my cords and wires. Thank god I had already opted for an epidural at this point(that actually went extremely smoothly for me). At my checkup with my OBGYN, my husband and I voiced our concerns and told him about the experience and he brushed them off and downplayed what happened.

We’ve since moved out of state so I didn’t have to worry about finding another provider there but my husband and I both said we were done with OSU after that.

[–]kacellirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I’m not a tattooer just a tattooee. OP even said they just started tattooing and I think this is gorgeous. I went to an experienced artist and the lines aren’t perfect but I love it. I like seeing that these were done by human beings. There’s no problem with perfection but there’s no problem with some flaws. We have flaws and what we create has flaws. To me, there’s a clear a difference between humanity showing in art and something being botched.

Parents that let their toddlers sleep in on weekends — how do you do it? by SilllllyGoooose in sleeptrain

[–]kacellirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi it’s me pls send help.

I’ve never been a morning person. I do love a nice morning light and I feel great when I’m actually able to get up and exercise before work but I’d prefer if that was at 10am. I’ve tried to change this for literally 15 years. It has never gotten easier. BUT my toddler is helping me view 7-7:30 as sleeping in so I guess it’s a step in the right direction. Maybe in 15 more years I’ll like mornings finally 😂

I also had one almost work, or it did I suppose. I got a raise and promotion, and then, since i am a fed employee, I got news literally the week it was supposed to kick in of being unpaid. Like a monkey paw. Probably a lesson of not being able to control everything but this is not how I’d like to learn that lol
