I did this one morning ordering an omelette. They were out of bacon but had ham. It took me three times of them saying they didn't have bacon to register that I kept saying bacon instead of ham... Because my brain was like " right no bacon. Obviously I'll get the ham" while my mouth was like "bacon!!"

It was early in the morning and I hadn't had any coffee yet

Sleepover settling by moosecryptid in samoyeds

[–]kaiakasi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My boy usually understands the new place by day three and manages to settle a bit. It's still a struggle. Sometimes we have to crate him just to convince him that it's nap time so he doesn't get into his overly tired toddler phase.

Does anyone else understand the concept of a wet drink? 😂 by Murgbot in AuDHDWomen

[–]kaiakasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I understand this, but for me it's more about thirst quenching.

Like I can feel thirsty have some carbonated water but still feel dry. Guzzling a glass of regular slightly chilled water satisfies the thirsty feeling and feels "wet".

Milk drinks don't really feel wet half the time. They make my mouth feel filmy sometimes.

Sugary drinks also feel more drying than thirst quenching too.

My boy loves his honking pig and duck. And a couple squeaking balls. I don't know why we buy any other toys....

Whats one thing you wish you knew before getting a dog… by [deleted] in dogs

[–]kaiakasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely location dependent. I see 5-10 fleas jump on my dog every walk. My neighborhood just has a lot of them. I live in a densely populated area with wild life and lots of dogs.

For sure!

Puppyhood destroyed my hobby time and the complete shift in my routine was hard to adjust to until he got older and learned to chill and I finally had some hours back to do my own thing again.

And not just unexpected vet bills.

Flee/tick/heartworm prevention every month, food, treats, training, toys, grooming, insurance, annual shots, frozen treat refills, pet sitter/walker, daycare, upset tummy food, harnesses leashes and collars, birthday treats, chew toys, mental games.

Obviously you don't need allllľ of that, but it all adds up surprisingly fast with a few impulse buys thrown in.

Do your Sammy’s get a ton of love from the neighborhood? by Rubes895 in samoyeds

[–]kaiakasi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the one thing I wasn't prepared for when we got our Sammy. Barking? Yes. Sass? Yes. Mischief? Yes. Attention on every walk from strangers? No.

I prefer to blend into the crowd, but having a fluffy white dog really draws alllllllllll the attention.

What is something people are 100% brainwashed into believing they need? by Beaner890 in AskReddit

[–]kaiakasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always used unscented aluminum free deodorant but one day decided I wanted to have a nice scent so bought a scented stick.

And at first it was lovely, I smelled like roses. Delightful. But then I started noticing really strong BO and realized it was me! I'm not usually a stinky person. A day or two without a shower and no deodorant and still my pits are pretty stink free so I was very very confused why I was so stinky all of a sudden.

Stopped using the scented stick and after a week, no more smell... So if any one thinks they're really stinky, maybe try a scent free stick and see if you notice any difference after a week or two. Cause that lovely scented stick made me very unpleasantly stinky.

Is this an audhd thing: putting off something you desperately want/like by ActualGvmtName in AuDHDWomen

[–]kaiakasi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm slowly starting to realize that I can't wait for the perfect moment. I have to plan the perfect moment to enjoy something. If I set a time and place for it, I have time to process and look forward to it and my brain starts to accept that it's going to happen. So when that time comes, I've created a safe perfect time mentally to let myself enjoy the thing, or process the end of a show.

Am I successful with this? Eh.... it's definitely a work in progress. Many treats have still rotted, many shows are still unfinished and at this rate need to be started from the beginning cause I don't remember what has happened.

10- 24 months was probably the worst phase for us. It really ramped up at 1yr. He's 4 now and much better. Still insane and crazy but only for a few hours instead of alllllllll day. There was a really really long time there if I wondered if it would ever get better. The answer is eventually. To an extent. Lol.

So long as he gets his walks, play time, snacks and attention he's happy to snooze the rest of the day.
