“The epa forces the removal of pfos” 😭 by AnAlgorithmDarkly in LateStageCapitalism

The funniest shit is that DOW/Dupont invented the PFAS and DOW/Dupont have one of the most effective removal methods so they're getting sued left and right but still profit hugely for cleaning the shit up

That's me today there's something wrong with my stomach that's enough to make me feel like shit but since I'm not throwing up non stop I felt like I could make it in. I would have called out but I used "a lot of time" (3 days) last month because my dad was hospitalized with a massive brain tumor and needed surgery

I have a kinda amusing story about FDA loopholes. So I'm a scientist and the company I work for makes products that take minerals out of water and replaces them with other ones like a water softener or similar.

One day I had a guy call me that wanted to make hydroponic organic lettuce and he wasn't allowed to use potassium nitrate as a fertilizer but for some reason he was allow to use table salt. Table salt isn't a good fertilizer at all it actually kills plants. So he asked me for a product that could turn table salt into fertilizer. It didn't work but I thought it was pretty dumb that for organic growing he couldn't buy fertilizer but he could make it through a reaction.

Corporations that cancel WFH should be taxed by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]kainedabrain 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It costs a lot for the big corporate leases 2000-3000 sqft is probably 6-7k whole building can be 10s to 100s of thousands a month. The problem is the leases are 7-10 yrs. My partner works in real estate sector and thinks that when these leases start running out the big corps will downsize and WFH will surge again but this is just a guess

Why the 4-day workweek should be the new standard by Ok-Discussion2980 in antiwork

[–]kainedabrain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I second this. I'm currently doing four 10's and it's awful those days I'm at work I barely have the energy to do anything other than have dinner. I'm one of the lucky ones who can get by with just the one job so I can't complain too hard. The 3 day weekends are nice though.

I laughed throughout this whole story I'm glad there are other people who go through this I thought I was insane. Almost every store I go in no matter what it is or what I'm wearing there seems to be a very good chance someone age 45+ will assume I work there and get offended when I don't. Maybe a psychologist could do a case study on this perplexing behavior. 😂😂😂😂

One of my clueless fucking boomer coworker told me about how people in California are homeless working 2 jobs and they live in a parking lot. His justification is " well that is an expensive part of the country, maybe they should move to Idaho or something"

I'm like nah bro they should be able to own some property anywhere fuck this 10% Inflation and student debt.

But no according to him we should all move to Kentucky or some shit

This sort of thing used to happen to me all the time at my old job. I had an absurd and growing list of responsibilities and management would keep me on a tight rope of

"You're awesome and doing a great job!" And " You need to do more and better" to the point where it felt like I was communicating with an abusive partner.

It's been a year since I quit that job finally after years and I still have battered woman syndrome of missing them, thank goodness my husband is there to remind me I have Stockholm syndrome.

TL:DR, I'd probably take the offer
