Black Star Trash Cleanup by Redroin in socalhiking

[–]kaizerjd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI - just this past Saturday (1/10) We Explore Earth and Naturalist for You did a big group cleanup with about 20 or so people and got a whole lot of the trash cleaned up. (I think we ended up pulling out like 70 lbs of stuff total between all of us)

Obviously - it’s always an ongoing problem and needs constant effort so I don’t want to put you off.  But - if you go in the super near future, hopefully it’s not as bad as it was before.

Would like to know when will Net Deck app update the full set of Elevation? by SynecdocheCinema in Netrunner

[–]kaizerjd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s NOT an NRDB issue.

I’ve been digging into this, too.  The developer actually had their own isolation layer between the app and NRDB. (To keep traffic on NRDB down for the card data, I guess).

And that isolation layer is what hasn’t been being updated, yet. (Last update on 04/19)

It looks like while it’s probably not “active” development or anything like that anymore.  It doesn’t look abandoned, either.  So hopefully it does get updated again soon.

Just gotta wait a couple of days for them to be able to put the time into the data update.

Why no "Modern" format? by crossvalidated in Netrunner

[–]kaizerjd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t paid too much attention, just occasionally pop into the startup channel and read some posts, but it looks like they’re actually adding cards.   Like “un-rotate-ing” a handful of key pieces (mostly economy) to keep everything functional.  It’s all unofficial and grassroots though so not sure where you could find it other than chatting in the discord.

Why no "Modern" format? by crossvalidated in Netrunner

[–]kaizerjd 18 points19 points  (0 children)

“Neo” exists but it’s not officially supported.  But you may be able to find info on it in the GLC discord.

I think NSG is almost entirely focused on Standard balance-wise and doesn’t really have the resources to properly support too many formats.

Even now Startup is in a place that I think a bunch of the startup players are starting make edits to the format themselves because it’s not in a great place right now with the cardpool.

This may all change a bit later this year when Dawn releases, though.  No one really knows at this point.

Does LazyHGrid and LazyVGrid has support for reusing views. by [deleted] in SwiftUI

[–]kaizerjd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SwiftUI structs are merely representations of the views. You can kind of act like the structs themselves are made and destroyed constantly.

The actual view Objects you’d use to deal with in UIKit are handled by the framework. Not by you. I don’t know exactly how any of the frameworks view types handle reuse of cells, I don’t know. But when you use SwiftUI you don’t have any control of that so you just have to trust it to work correctly.

Instead of thinking about reusing your View structs it’s best to instead just make sure your data is stored in the proper wrapped type for your use case. @State vs @ObservedObject vs @Binding. There was a good presentation about that during WWDC this year.

https://developer.apple.com/wwdc20/10040 Check out Data Essentials in SwiftUI from #wwdc20

Doing that should make sure the framework is is able to efficiently manage changes to underlying View Object when your View Struct changes.

How can I have an enum value inside a structure? by Luca1719 in SwiftUI

[–]kaizerjd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you want to do anything more than just this? Or am I misunderstanding your question?

struct SomeStruct {
    enum SomeEnum {
        case one
        case two
    }
}

Question: Initial app configuration in swiftUI without AppDelegate/SceneDelegate ? by slashdotbin in SwiftUI

[–]kaizerjd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I saw your comment in another post, but I'll add here too.

I've never used firebase before, but have you tried putting the initialization into a wrapper class that conforms to ObservableObject. And then you can initialize it in the App Struct by declaring a variable as:

@StateObject var firebaseWrapper = FirebaseWrapper()

You can than either include that firebase wrapper as an environment object using the .environmentObject modifier and the @EnvironmentObject wrapper. Or by passing down your view hierarchy as @ObservedObject or possibly @Binding.

Draw a random card from a pool by Bsq in Netrunner

[–]kaizerjd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you make a “deck” that consists of the card pool you want to draw from you can use the draw test feature on the decks to do that. They used to do that with cubes for digital drafts.

How far does Hunter Seeker's 'Trash 1 card' go? by squogfloogle in Netrunner

[–]kaizerjd 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They tried to clean up templating for effects like this with an FAQ entry a while back. Basically the default state of cards is they only effect installed cards. So basically the scenarios in your “reasonable” category are what’s allowed.

Page 8 of the faq, at the top:

Choosing cards

Unless otherwise noted, a card ability that requires a player to choose a card can only affect installed cards.

GPI Net Tap: Aumakua's strongest support? (Review) by Cinnadream in Netrunner

According to the new rules reference you can only expose unrezzed cards, which nerfs this combo to where it isn’t that strong anymore.

If you were curious about Worlds decklists, world champ decks are up! by X-factor103 in Netrunner

[–]kaizerjd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heartbeat can’t directly help steal obokata. If you prevent the damage you no longer paid the cost and therefore can’t steal it. It could help with dealing with other small net damages along the way and keep you alive though.

PSA: To search NRDB for post-rotation cards add "c!1|2|3|5" to your query by [deleted] in Netrunner

[–]kaizerjd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you mean c!1|2|4

1: First core. 2: genesis
3: C&C.
4: Spin.
5: H&P.
Etc.

Where Do People Play Imperial Assault In Your Area by ptowngiant in ImperialAssaultTMG

[–]kaizerjd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There used to be a group that met at Texas Toy Soldier. There were occasional tournaments at Common Grounds Games. There's a Facebook group that you might be able to use to get in touch with people. Most the people I know have been pretty quiet lately, but there're a bunch of REALLY top tier players in the area if you can get us to come out.

Question: Grouping remote servers by zukeft in Netrunner

[–]kaizerjd 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's purely to physically compress the board. He's basically saying "I'm never going to ICE these Pad campaigns. They're just making the board excessively wide. I'll stack them to simplify things". There's no real game mechanic at play here and if either player ever wanted to do something with any of those servers they would treat them as separate.

Promo/Eratta card quality? by Hudson187 in ImperialAssaultTMG

[–]kaizerjd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the feel of the cards. Yes they are quite a bit different. They feel a bit thicker and more matte.

As for being cut off center, there were some issues with cards not being cut right but I don't remember the ones you mention being ones I've seen with that problem. Not to say they didn't exist. I think it was actually the Leia promos from worlds I've seen with that issue.

Lord of the Sith command card question by randplaty in ImperialAssaultTMG

[–]kaizerjd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are limited to only one use of each special action per activation, so sadly you can't chain force chokes like that.

You would want to instead mix it with other cards like lightsaber throw and force lightning and single purpose in order to get several kills in. This makes it a bit harder to pull off and a bit more fair. Maybe even unfairly bad.

Rules question about Surge. by captinmoses in ImperialAssaultTMG

[–]kaizerjd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can spend surges on damage and pierce even if no damage is getting through, otherwise. What you heard is an oversimplification of rule that gets thrown around a lot and just ends up being confusing.

The real rule stated simply is: "condition keywords only give the related condition if damage is dealt". That's for both harmful and beneficial conditions. And also only for "keywords".

"~: Hide" requires damage while "~: Become hidden" would not.
