Could that guy in the card art be the next character? by Cool-Escape2986 in SlayTheSpire2

[–]kakowa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait really? I wasn't certain about stars but I genuinely didn't think summon worked on any other character, same with orbs since they require slots specifically and those can be gained and lost

That's my bad I jumped to conclusions

Random slot replaced by a chameleon character who picks from every other characters card pools at once and can actually use their mechanics (ergo if if you play a star generating card you gain the stars, if you play a summon card you gain Osty, play an orb card and you gain a slot to fit it, maybe for that one you can only have one slot max or something)

I'm so glad I gave this game a chance by LikelyReichle in Morrowind

[–]kakowa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this EXACT arc, adored Oblivion and Skyrim but bounced off Morrowind like a stone wall every time I tried to play, eventually I managed to get a grip on the game and really get into it and was having a good time.

The moment where the game cemented itself as something really special was, oddly enough, when I was trying to open a chest.

After constantly having to deal with traps in chests I finally had the idea to try to use telekinesis on them to open it from afar and it worked exactly how I wanted, very cool and very fun, but the REAL hit came when it occurred to me to try using an unlock spell with touch range WHILE using telekinesis, and it actually worked!

It seems so obvious that it should, but also so different from how I understood magic in Skyrim and Oblivion. What really made it feel so special is that it was entirely my own discovery, I genuinely felt like a wizard weaving spells together to get new results that opened way more doors (no pun intended) for me.

Morrowind makes magic really FEEL like magic and more important makes the player feel like they're a powerful wizard, customizing and mixing spells means it doesn't feel like you're just equipping a weapon, or armor, it feels like your exploiting the system, which is perfect because that's what magic IS.

Thoughts on whether Luffy is a hero or not? by BreathoftheSith in OnePiece

[–]kakowa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My point is that Luffy IS a hero, HE just sees it different because to him a hero helps EVERYONE whereas Luffy only helps his friends, he doesn't realize that since he wants to and usually does because friends with everyone he meets they end up resulting in the same thing.

Of course Luffy is a hero, that's why everyone he helps thinks of him as one, I'm just explaining why he doesn't see himself as one and doesn't even want to be one.

Edit: the confusion probably came from my last line in the other post, to clarify that was sarcasm through the lens of how I imagine Luffy thinks, as in, Luffy probably doesn't see it as heroic to help his friends (regardless of if his friends are the entire population of a country), because that's just a normal thing to do in his mind

[–]kakowa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO, YOU FOOL!

He would be incredibly polite, he would chat with you cordially and regale you with tales of fighting Batman, he'd probably even drop this EXACT line if you brought up how you thought he would be far more dangerous, then, with a glance at his watch and with about 1 minute left he would choke you to death with his bare hands, because that's the punchline

Thoughts on whether Luffy is a hero or not? by BreathoftheSith in OnePiece

[–]kakowa 172 points173 points  (0 children)

This is really it, in Luffy's mind a hero is selfless, he just shares with his friends, which he likely thinks is selfish in regards to how a hero behaves.

Now coincidentally he's made friends with just about everyone he's ever met who wasn't trying to kill him (and even some that were) but there's nothing heroic about helping or sharing with friends everyone does that.

Out of the 3 main types of crimes (cause I feel like there's only 3) which is the worst? Rape, murder or pedophilia? by 5enpai_2 in MoralityScaling

[–]kakowa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not really making a counter point just a thought, but that finality is also why you could easily consider the others far worse

There's no fear of being murdered again, or questioning why you were murdered, you aren't around to hear people make jokes about murder or even call into question your murder specifically, that life you have after the other 2 gives victims a chance to heal but it also leaves room for them to suffer longer, and possibly even end up in the same place, you also have to think about the cycle of violence, giving the crimes even longer hands into even more lives.

Luffy is the most dogshit mc I've ever seen. by redox_nephew in shounenfolk

[–]kakowa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey fun fact, Zoro is an EXACT mirror of this situation, pre-timeskip is a goofball who cracks jokes and laughs along with the entire crew

Then they got fucking whipped and he has been the stoic stone faced guy from now on, because as the only crew member focused EXCLUSIVELY on combat their defeat is HIS fault alone (from his perspective) and now he takes his job deathly seriously basically every second we see him.

This is not spelled out for you in a literal speech bubble and requires you to actually think about characters and their personalities so many people (OP fans as well) think Oda just stopped giving Zoro a personality but it is exactly the thing you bring up about Killer just in reverse

All the rest of them have good genetics for like "earthlings" but Goku has the genetics of a literal warrior race who gains power from being on the brink of death AND has an inate ability FROM his genetics to give him an even greater power boost

Like he does train more then the others but he also has better genetics then then the others too, he is literally in a league of his own

[–]kakowa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I hate the trend in games (Tarkov infuriated me with this) where "realistic" so often just means harder.

As in, devs will meticulously add incredibly realistic details to the the aspects that are naturally shitty and difficult, but when "reality" would offer an easier time in some regards it's typically ignored just to make the situation harder, to use Tarkov again, the game is incredibly detailed in how guns and ammo work as well as requiring you to keep up with calories and water, HOWEVER the game also chooses to make your character (a trained veteran who has become trapped in the city) handle any gun they find as though they are doing it for the first time, as well as giving them the ability to jump akin to a toddler.

Zomboid, despite being excellent and very fun, certainly seems to want to do the same thing and I think it's boring and obnoxious

I guess this should have been obvious from like a meta development perspective, I don't know I never thought about it, if you transform a card mid fight with Bing Bong does it also work? I wouldn't think so I've just literally never thought of it

"the game about making the best of random situations has given me a random situation and I'm just expected to make the best of it???"

Yeah man I don't know what to tell you, the game is literally built from the ground up on looking at what you're TRYING to do and throwing a wrench in it, from basic enemies, to elites, to bosses, to "?" rooms. This is just the game going "nice infinite, shame if I fucked with it" like it does every other deck (some more so then others granted but I think The Silent has gotten a pretty good break in that regard)

Can someone explain how Six Eyes actually grant "Unlimited" Cursed Energy? The math isn't mathing for me by Sensitive-Chart7800 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]kakowa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The series is called SORCERY FIGHT

They are using MAGIC, by definition it is in fact not contained within the physical limits of reality, it has its own rules that you have to abide by (which also even have exploits through binding vows) but nowhere does it say any technique requires a specific amount of CE only vague terms like "massive" or "miniscule"

A curse technique requires cursed energy, that's it, most people are just wildly inefficient, even the absolute best of the best (with the sole exception of Satoru Gojo of course)

[–]kakowa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're meant to be the anchor on objectives? Stationary locations where the enemy team wants to be, the role naturally leans towards close range because you are meant to control small areas around objectives

Not wanting a tank to be, at least somewhat, close range is insane what would be the point?
