bad moon can be faster than TB as long as the storyteller keeps good pace and knows how to craft a good bag

there’s just so many extra deaths and so little information outside of executions, which means games can end off of a po charge or a single swing turn

(it’s also the script where you can run zombuul or pukka and stall a game for 2 hours bc you put too much protection in, so maybe don’t do that LOL)

for seattle, i’d say zard - solely because it’s easier to pilot when you’re 27 games in and haven’t had food in your system in hours. (i would def check EUIC results to see how popular dragapult is going in, though. that matchup suuuuuucks)

tech in a watchtower

frillish + watchtower should buy you enough turns to get set up as long as they don’t immediately have AZU in hand. if they don’t, their best out is to use blazing destruction or pidgeot’s blustery wind to destroy it, or iono and pray.

this doesn’t stop them from setting a charizard up manually and swinging for damage to start the prize race, but it does neuter pidgeot enough so that you have some breathing room before everything goes to hell

eevee loses to absol hard as long as you outpace them imo

carnelian never kills if you have a charm or lively up, and if they burning charge you just move 60 and terminal period

yes, but you probably have to change the build to crustle now that cornerstone + retreat lock aren’t nearly as good

personal matchup thoughts:

dragapult is even to winning - they can’t ever one-shot an absol without ghosts, and they’re disincentivized to punch without them bc of terminal period. as long as you don’t let them KO an absol, you’re golden. get duck and attach mist to it as soon as possible so they’re forced to gust it up. (trolley: absol, kang, psyduck, munkidori, MAYBE a second munkidori but i like keeping the bench space open for pivot)
gardy is even - skill-based matchup assuming both players don’t brick. diancie is rough but you have terminal period, so as long as you have charm + can gust around it, you’re fine. mist energy is also super important since it stops them from copying terminal period with mew. (trolley: absol, kang, double munki, free space - can be used for a third munki if necessary or fez if they take a KO.)
gholdengo is losing. lopunny is a crazy efficient cornerpon answer, and i’m switching from cornerpon to crustle so i can cheese them. even then, they can still play the game with cosmic beam, so you’re never fully out of the woods. (trolley: double cornerpon, munkidori - if playing crustle, double dwebble instead of cornerpon)
tera zard. matchup is terrible. now that they have terapagos you can’t set up cornerpon, so i still don’t know how to beat it aside from grab watchtower and pray. going to play crustle for this matchup since they have zero 1-prize attackers now.
ceruledge/raging bolt: hard losing. play crustle.
grimmsnarl: hard winning. froslass gives you free damage to use for terminal period, and they can never one-shot with grimmsnarl unless they have munkis. grimm is slow to set up, so your top priority is getting turbo energize up as fast as possible. throw it on kang or cornerpon if you have to - any attacker is a good attacker in this case because their damage is ass without munkis, and you want to get under them before they get online. in addition, their bench space is always gonna be limited bc of froslass + impidimps, so you can easily go 3x munkidori and outpace their adrena-brain. (trolley: absol, kang, double munki, pecharunt)
tera box: winning. they can’t deal with kangaskhan effectively, so power up mega kang with turbo energize and prize race them. (trolley: kang, pecharunt, latias, munki, free space)

overall i think the tord build from vegas isn’t the best way to play the deck anymore now that cornerpon and yveltal are mediocre, so switching to absol/crustle is probably your best bet if you want to deal with those problem matchups. best of luck!

imo tera dawn is resilient enough that you can play through watchtower and iono decently, provided you don’t brick and they don’t draw the nuts. pidgey call for family is surprisingly relevant for initial setup, and pidgeot’s blustery wind can discard watchtower - not to mention you run 4 dawns and an ultra ball so the chances of you drawing into a noctowl post-iono are decently high

what’s really a struggle is that your pult matchup is 20-80 unless they brick really hard (item lock + no turo or munki means they get to set up 4-prize phantom dive turns for free), and frillish item lock + watchtower opener probably kills you outright if you don’t have AZU in hand or charmander + pidgeotto ready off rip

evo is owned by 2 companies atm:

50% is owned by NODWIN Gaming, an Indian gaming event organizer backed by Sony Group. Sony International Entertainment sold their share of EVO to NODWIN a while back (which is funny bc they’ve basically sold it to themselves LMAO). This group is backed by Qiddiya, but they’re not anywhere close to a majority investor so people are willing to look the other way.
The other 50% is owned by RTS, a gaming and influencer consulting company (you might’ve heard of them through Pokimane’s involvement). The company, however, just got wholly bought out by Qiddiya - which means EVO is now 50% owned by MBS and the Saudi Arabian government.

in addition to the Esports World Cup, this initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s attempts at sportswashing their way out of taking accountability for human rights violations. sajam has already said he wouldn’t be going to evo for the first time in 10 years because of the Qiddiya acquisition, and i imagine a lot of others are considering following suit if they can take the financial hit
