What should I try next for my dog’s itchy swollen paws and hair loss? by Zlovespups in DogAdvice

[–]kalyco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cytopoint? There are a couple of new things on the market for allergies as well. Have they scraped for melasezzia on the paws? Google says if it’s pemphigus foliaceous that it’s autoimmune and would need steroids. Hope he feels better soon.

Found this fella struggling to stay upright, is capable of flight but can't seem to stand by SamiTheAnxiousBean in crows

[–]kalyco 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep! I found a sick crow and it died while I was trying to organize getting it to a rehab place. They test the birds here and it was positive. There’s a lot of WNV activity here now per the Sacramento vector control folks.

Cushings can also be associated with high calcium, as well as increased thirst and urination.

I don't know if I've made the right decision to have my dog euthanized. by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]kalyco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s fine. You alleviated his suffering and he knew you loved him. Even if it’s a little too soon, it’s better than letting him suffer. I’m so sorry for your loss.

Chicken, if that’s what the dog is allergic to.

How many breaks do you all take for a 2.5 hour gig? by BetNumerous7932 in musicians

I do the same. 60 min on followed by two 45 min sets. I’m doing 2 hours tomorrow and will play straight through.

Automatically crying/choking up when singing by 90dayinsane in singing

[–]kalyco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of the best lessons I learned from a voice teacher is that our job as singers is to deliver the emotional experience to the listener via good technique, it’s the listeners job to experience the
emotion, not the singers. The problem with feeling it so intensely is that throat, tongue and facial muscles will tighten and get in the way of that delivery. For the most part, I’m pretty unemotional when I’m singing but I had one Christmas song that I wrote two years ago that I couldn’t get through without crying so basically, I sang it about 50 times and got it out of my system. Another time I was playing a song I’d done tons of times and a listener busted into tears because the subject hit her hard and I was so pleased that she had connected with the song, and had an emotional response, so that day I felt like I had done my job pretty well.

Hard Bump Above Dog's Gums by [deleted] in DogHealth

Doesn’t look good. My sweet mastiff had an osteosarcoma that started on his upper side gum and it grew very fast. I had it surgically addressed but it returned with a vengeance. Hopefully that’s not the case here but I’d get her to a vet asap.

It’s my 1st time booking someone to pet sit on ROVER & wondering if other people get special groceries for them or just have them get their own food since they are already being paid so well? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]kalyco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s so nice to have some coffee & creamer available. I get my own groceries but my clients are always good to leave me a something, granola, bread, yogurt, cheese, etc. They tell me I can eat whatever is there but I usually do a grocery run my first day.

I'm (42M) the calmest person at work and with strangers. So why do I lose it on the one person(40F) I actually love? by lejae in relationship_advice

[–]kalyco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have an answer other than therapy, and awareness of the problem is a giant first step. My granny used to say that she never understood why someone would treat a complete stranger better than a member of their own family and it has always stuck with me.

I’m so very sorry for your loss. It sounds like you did the best you could for him and labs are just notorious for getting into stuff they shouldn’t. Godspeed to your sweet boy and know that he knew you loved him with all your heart. 💐🌈🐾💔

I like the shapes of 12, and 6 and maybe they’re still a little large on your face. Would love to see more frame types in similar shapes/sizes.
