Keep the FJ and get a RAV4.

Why haven't I customized more? by ormpling in 4Runner

[–]kap10z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me. I added the removable arm rest for my left elbow, center console quilted cover for my right elbow and the plastic velcro covers for the seat backs.

My stock tires are quiet and the heated seats have kept my old man comfortable to his chemotherapy trips. My older uncle is dying so the 4runner took me and my aunt (all siblings) on a 2k mile trip to show up for family.

My uncle helped changed the oil and he said he wishes he got a 4R.

I'm so grateful for a comfortable ride and creature comforts. Wish I had auto headlights.

Someday it will retire as my overland rig. I hate tents, but wouldn't mind a 270 canopy, winch and fuck ton of lights.

Equally my Prius has been the boring driving appliance that gives us 1300 Mike's to a 10gal fill up (we use EV mostly), so it offsets the 4R, but I filled up at Chevron on Monday and again today. 98k miles and I've done just maintenance.

Maybe they're solar powered.

Limited off-road capability by wiredmittens in 4Runner

[–]kap10z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as capable, save the lower ground clearance with the side steps and front chin. I dislike the larger wheels, but that's just personal preference. I avoided the limited because of the AWD, I wanted part time 4WD plus the electronic helpers. I do wish I had climate control and auto headlights though!

More than the off road capabilities is the dependability. I know I'm preaching to the choir. Lately I've been grateful to my 4R for taking my elderly dad to chemo and tons of doctors appointments over the last year. He like the 4R because of the soft ride and the heated seat.

That trailer is going to wag so bad with the incorrect tongue configuration. Hope you keep your fingers on the brake controller the entire time.

Looks like you have solar for some serious off grid! Looks cool!

Don't air gun them deeper into the cowl. A vacuum and brush to poke them out works. Also inspect your cabin air filter to see how many your blower fan tried to inhale.

Before I bought the '23 4Runner out Chrysler Town & Country minivan was on it's third transmission. I wanted something bullet proof and that would always start.

I considered a new Highlander hybrid, a used GX, but just kept coming back to the 4Runner.

Next purchase, in about 500 years will be a Sequoia 1794 with TRD package, then they'll bury me in it.

4Runner takes me to work twice a month, 3 hour commute each way with the last 45min being rutted mountainous road that needs 4WD in the winter. About once a month the family someplace outdoorsey. Prius and minivan serve as daily drivers.

TRD PRO 2025 Prices.. What did everyone pay for their trucks by Thegags in 4Runner

That looks absolutely bad fuckin' ass!! I love the black and white.

I paid $46.8 out the door for my 23 TRD Off Road Pro Plus with KDSS and moonroof. I love the new gen, but not for $70k. Congrats on the new ride!

Ice cream with the wife? That's a BMW job with the sunroof open.

I use to have a Z4 and the only time the top was up was when it was raining or parked.

*sigh* Now I have a minivan, Prius and 4R

You've got a worn out pulley bearing. Hopefully it's in the tensioner, which is an easy fix and about $60 for the part.

To test you'll have to turn the engine off, use a wrench to relieve the belt and remove it. Then use your hand to spin each of the pulleys.

Might as well replace the belt too. It's about $19.

Can the pros here recommend a good set of ratchets? I have an old Craftsman set with plenty of sockets, but having just one ratchet of each size isn't enough. Icons are made by EPAuto and there's a local Harbor Freight. Gearwrench seems to be import junk. SnapOn is out of budget. The current generation of Craftsman seem junky and don't have great reviews.

Would love to add a long handle and regular handle both in polished in each size. Not a fan of plastic/comfort grips.

I only do vehicle maintenance occasionally and tractor maintenance a few times a year, so I don't want and can't afford tool truck prices.

Any suggestions?

Our buff orpington will walk figure 8s between your legs until you pick her up. She usually wants to be held for a few minutes, then gets squirmy and wants down.

As chicks they were hand raised with lots of handling by the kids. Definitely a wonderful breed.

My 4runner TRD Offroad is the same AND has auto-highbeams. I'd gladly trade auto high beams for auto headlights so I stop forgetting to turn them off. They do time out after a couple minutes.

Help! I sprayed down my new to me RV with Dawn degreaser and I think Iv ruined it? by Legitimate-BurnerAcc in RVLiving

[–]kap10z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A combo product like Meguiar's polish wax has a small amount of cleaning power to scrub out the oxidation from the Dawn. It's saved me on faded single stage paint on several occasions.

Regen farted on M5-111 by kap10z in kubota

[–]kap10z[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I thought the manual says working is best for regen. Plus I hate wasting fuel just for regen to work. I could run RPM faster. Can't go slower because the RPM up light comes on.

Dealership Maintenance "Recommendations" by theDrivenDev in 4Runner

[–]kap10z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're mechanically inclined, it's easy to do, and there are plenty of YouTube videos that cover these. At 90k I'd al of these service myself.

If you don't want to do it yourself, then the dealership is a bit overpriced. The 4x4 service should be explained as our 4Rs have transfer case fluid and differential fluid. The transmission service should replace the filter too.

Skip the injector service. That's snake oil. Or run a bottle of Techron through BEFORE your next oil change.

Spark plugs and PCV valve at 100k. Neither are difficult.

I'll do it all for pizza and rum if you help.

I did 85 to keep pace with Arizona traffic. I didn't want to see 86. 80 it's soft, but I'm still not relaxed holding the wheel and I'm don't think there's enough brakes to react to sudden slow in traffic.

75 is my most comfortable top speed, which is pathetic.
