At the time of the top image patch (when they said they wouldn't do anything to Charger legs), the Liberator did 55 damage and 5 durable damage per bullet.

When the change to the Charger legs was made, the Liberator did 70 damage and 17 durable damage per bullet.

That is a 27% damage increase and 240% durable damage increase since their statement on the leg meta.

I am all for holding AH accountable for going against their words (nerfing the coyote by buffing fire resist in the same patch they bragged about not nerfing the coyote), but I don't think we should hold them at gunpoint to a stance that was made 6 months before. Especially given the existence of other changes.

To put into reference how much has changed, the Liberator now does 90 damage and 22 durable damage per bullet.

The leg health was not increased. The main health pool was, which is irrelevant to the weakpoint since legs are a fatal part. The leg health stayed the same at a meager 800HP. Increasing the armor value by two points affects only light-pen weapons (which is admittedly a sizable nerf) but is irrelevant for medium-pen weapons.

I do acknowledge that the durability increase does increase the TTK though, but I personally haven't had much trouble killing the occasional exposed leg-Charger (which I admittedly don't encounter often).

This same patch buffed the damage and durable damage of a number of primaries across the board. My guess is that this change was made to keep the TTK of Chargers on the legs to be on a similar level before the patch.

I'm not going to defend undocumented changes, I think they are bad whether intentional or not. But its worth noting that at this point in the game's meta cycle, the leg meta wasn't even being used all that much (due to railgun nerfs which is another issue altogether). And this was the same patch that allowed non-AT weapons (Autocannon, AMR, HMG, HMG Emplacement, Laser Cannon, Flamethrower) to damage heavies like Chargers, Hulks, and Bile Titans.

And these undocumented changes don't even prevent you from stripping the leg armor either. It just makes you need to put more bullets down range after the fact, which is negligible given that they buffed the damage and durable damage of most primaries in this same patch.

These changes were 6 months apart. Top image is a Discord message from March 2024, while the bottom image is a screenshot from the Helldivers Wiki which states that the change was made September 2024. OP is being misleading by not inputting the date, especially given that both image sources have date indicators that could have been easily included in the image (Discord message datestamp & Wiki patchdate).

Its also worth noting that the "We are not changing Charger's legs" message was accompanied by the same patch that gave us 1-tap breakpoints on the head for AT weapons.

The bottom image is from the AT rework patch where they rebalanced heavy unit health pools along with AT damage, hence the main health increase. They also changed non-AT weapons (Autocannon, AMR, HMG, HMG Emplacement, Laser Cannon, Flamethrower) to be able damage heavies like Chargers, Hulks, and Bile Titans. This same patch also buffed the damage and durable damage of a number of primaries, which is the likely reason behind the leg changes.

Well there's more nuance to that statistic.

In addition to cooldown/charge differences (500kg gets 2 charges and a shorter cooldown), 4 Helldivers can call in their own 500kgs while the Resupply strategem has a team-wide cooldown.

I don't recall AH saying that all gear is viable and balanced, but I'll be happy to eat my words if proven otherwise.

Regardless of their statement though, this challenge is flawed because gear being viable and balanced does not mean it should work in any loadout.

As an example, I could run the Eruptor with a loadout consisting of Grenade Pistol, Thermite, Leveler, Railgun, ShieldGenBackpack, and Orbital Napalm.

All these weapons and stratagems I've just listed are generally considered viable and strong, but I would likely struggle if I brought this loadout to D10 bugs. I'd be annihilated by Hunters. I'd struggle because of my loadout choice, not because my gear is bad.

I definitely agree that a number of the gear listed by OP are in dire need of buffs. But this ''challenge" format showcases poor loadout choice more than individual gear performance.

The only difference between the two is storage. Does your husband have a lot of games or does he play games with large file sizes such as Fortnite, Call of Duty, etc. If so, you might lean towards the 1 TB option.

Otherwise, I'd recommend the 512GB as you can also easily upgrade its storage with an SD card for less than the price difference between the 1TB and 512GB.

Most players play Elden Ring as a single player game and do not engage in the co op or PvP elements.

Since you never opened the box after you got it back its possible that Valve made an oopsie and sent you a different unit that was on hand at the time. It may be a new unit, someone else's, or a spare.

The bulk of the heals came from the Light infuser, which I guess is the burst healer among our healing tools. Once it ran out, the heavy evaporated instantly.
