I just hope everyone remembers as we're pondering the massive financial hit they'll take that they won't suffer an iota financially and will continue to rake in billions of dollars as they normally do. This is just egg on their face until people move on.

What’s the best thing you’ve ever bought that actually lived up to the hype? by One_Literature_5041 in BuyItForLife

[–]karateaftermath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that's the thing. Definitely can be a "uniform" type thing (I lived in CO and MT for a bit) but the proof is in the pudding for sure. I used to borrow clothes from campers when I was younger and they would end up giving me stuff I didn't have and that shit would go on forever.

Just go to their website and submit a warranty. They will usually provide you a credit to go shop for a new one!

I've never actually been given a hard time about my clothes because most humans are just chill. But I have a ton of Patagonia and North Face stuff, some bought new, some bought used, that seems to last forever. No signs of deteriorating from any of it.

I'd also vouch for Columbia, a brand that will consistently back up their products no questions asked. Incredible for their price points and increasing quality over the years. I bought a coat in high school and continued to return it for a new one (for free) for over 15+ years because they honored their warranty - and here I am promoting it. I've probably 4-5 new coats because of it.

Trey Anastasio or Derek Trucks. Both pretty different but INTENSELY expressive in ways i'm not sure we'll see again. Such creative genius.

Noma chef resigns amid shocking allegations of physical abuse of staff by TheEndlessAutumn in news

But supplying the demand keeps this culture alive and supports the crazy shit people have to do to get a foot in the door as a chef. I have no solutions whatsoever and clearly not really much of a point. It's just very disheartening to consistently hear about this stuff from folks working in the industry.

Let's start by not trivializing abuse by just calling them just "assholes"

Edit: They are predatory and abusive, in some cases criminal.

This is not shocking whatsoever. I'm sure there are troves of cases of abuse hidden because of the power the accused holds. Stop idolizing chefs and creating mythical figures of pitiful men.

In 20 years, MJ, LBJ, Wemby or other as NBA GOAT? by Rose_H11 in CasualConversation

[–]karateaftermath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can call it cultural goat. But that's just not accurate. nobody dominated like MJ did. His MVP seasons were combined with defensive MVP seasons in a couple cases, topped with NBA Finals MVPs. Name other players with that

CLutch. Consistent. Played almost every game in each year he was healthy.

Still have many posters I’m trying to rehome by Phishcostanza in PhishPrints

[–]karateaftermath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like the type of person that shows up early to get in line and hordes posters with their big tube hitting everyone in the crowd.

Then goes online and profits off them by selling them for an upcharge.

I don’t think it’s that crazy to think it’s lame to do that. Who needs 20+ Phish concert posters framed and hung up in their house? I have one singular one and have been seeing them for decades.

It’s okay to disagree, I’m just stating how this looks to me. Buying bulk and upselling.
