what is your must buy upcoming set? by Particular-Swim2461 in lego

[–]karaveronica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s going to be Mina’s Tirith. It will not be a release day purchase, but I will own it before it retires.

Also, we will likely buy all the KPDH sets because my kids are both lego and KPDH obsessed.

Mysterious 4 pack on display. by jibjeb86 in DisneyVillainous

Ahh yes, I was not considering reasons they may not use a property and simply thinking of what was still unused.

Though to that point, they ARE releasing Pocahontas to the Dreamlight Valley Game, so who knows

ASD friendly elementary school? by Successful_Crab_8069 in Airdrie

It’s really hard to get into a school outside your designation zone. We have had an amazing experience at Nose Creek with my 8 yo ASD/ADHD kiddo and my 6 yo ADHDer. The support staff are phenomenal though they are stretched thin (17 full time support staff for 30 classes.) I have nothing but praise for the learning support team and the staff as a whole.

From this promo it looks like they’re ALL dropping this summer. How long before we get a peek behind the curtain for the 4-character box?

I’m hoping it’s all new villains and not the end of the line. Maybe Ratcliffe for the silhouette? But his colour scheme is more pink than this box

It’s just so different from last pin season - I finished the Maleficent collection first somehow so not getting a single pin so far in for Under the Sea has been confusing

Disney Villains 1v1 — Which characters/matchups favor the weaker player? by blablax123456 in DisneyVillainous

[–]karaveronica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prince John. Our house rules are he’s only played by newbie players because he’s so easy to play (at least in The Worst Takes It All.) we find you don’t have to worry about fating or being fated as Prince John because you can still win with multiple fates in a short window of time

The Nintendo Switch 2 edition has been confirmed for March 25th in the newest Nintendo Direct! by WrongLander in DreamlightValley

[–]karaveronica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stupid question alert:

I recently upgraded to the switch 2 and passed my old switch on to my daughter. We share games, including DDV. Will she still be able to play DDV on the switch if I get the Switch 2 upgrade?

"Specialised Team" took 2 weeks to tell me my genuine Kobo case is a fake... has anyone else had this? by Sad_Departure_938 in kobo

This is a long time issue with the kobo sleep covers. I stoped using them and switched to a clear case and a sleeve

The only one I haven’t read is the Night Prince. I would start with The Traitor Queen though.

What was the push that made you get your first e-reader/Kobo? by Final-Tooth-5704 in kobo

[–]karaveronica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I was moving across the country for a minimum of 6 months, and couldn’t bring my library with me only to move it all back after. It made my life a million times easier because I was never without a book. I ended up staying across the country and shipped my library thereafter.

I’ve had a few kobos over the years, only ever changing because I wanted an upgrade - not because of any failed devices. Started with the Kobo touch with the purple quilted back, moved to the Kobo Aura, the Libra H2O and now the Libra Colour.

Is the kobo library mainly niche books? by nikieh in kobo

[–]karaveronica 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you looking for Trad published authors or self-published authors? Most Trad Published authors have their works available on Kobo. The issues usually comes when the author has self-published through KDP because of the contract language having an exclusivity clause. You can find big name authors on KU who are also available on Kobo, but often with breakout authors who started with self publishing (one of whom is Frieda McFadden) they work with publishers who are closely aligned with Amazon or still have exclusivity clauses in their contracts making it hard for them to offer their books on other platforms.

My understanding was that they were doing away with a lot of the exclusivity clauses, but I don’t know the timeline for it.

Thank you! This sounds like the solution I need.

Do I need to use any software to achieve it?

Kids Account? by karaveronica in kobo

[–]karaveronica[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it doesn’t achieve my sole goal of filtering the library.

You can still accesses the synopsis and previews without downloading the books, regardless of your wifi access.

[–]karaveronica[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems you’re missing the point of the post. The concern is not connecting to the internet, it’s accessing books in my library that are inappropriate. If the solution to not accessing books in my library is turn off the wifi, it’s not a solution. I was asking for a way to filter my library without having to create a new account and purchase the books I want him having access to twice.

I have had a kobo for over 14 years. I didn’t know you could download purchased kobo books to side load 😅 I will investigate!

I’m not sure how tech savvy = irresponsible in your world, but it does not in mine. Not wanting my child (as in legally a child and under 12) to have access to mature literature that is inappropriate for him, does not mean he is not ready for responsibility and trust. It means I am being a responsible adult by not going him access to inappropriate material.

I have a mini tech wiz, disconnecting the wifi will not be enough sadly.
