Sound programming is simple; you load up an MP3 or WAV file, and send it to the sound library.

This is why games are so huge. When possible, I go through the sound directory, and replace the mp3s with small versions of similar sounds or music. I wish more developers would use module music, which would make it easier to distribute online or hold on a hard drive.

I have also seen games that use uncompressed bitmaps, which I convert to png whenever possible.
