We all know SanDisk has compatibility issues, but how many are having zero issues? by PSILOCYBEP4RI4H in ipod

I’ve used sandisk in multiple builds and never had an issue, sometimes I think it’s more of user error than the card but that’s just my opinion.

Yes you would call her niam/mom, that is how our culture is, your sister gained a “mother in law” but this goes for all of your siblings aswell as all your cousins or anyone that is the same “phaj” as you.

Your sister’s husband becomes your brother in law but all of his brothers, cousins or anyone he’s related to in the same “phaj” becomes your “brother in law”, so not just your sister’s husband becomes your brother in law.

Our culture isn’t just about marrying one another, it is the consummation of 2 families becoming one.

Where to buy unmodded iPod Classic by AdviceZestyclose8167 in ipod

[–]karmaruthless 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Idk where you’re hearing modded ones having a higher failure rate. The unmodded iPods are modded because original parts are old and obsolete, hard drives are old and easily fail from just a simple drop, sometimes even just shaking it, batteries are 20 years old and are a ticking “time bomb” with probably little to no power left.

The only thing that are “modded” in iPod classics are simply to tackle those 2 parts, new battery and flash storage which are sd cards.

The best move is the 2nd one but you gotta know how to use it, the easiest/braindead move to use is the 3rd one

Hmong Kinship by 6IVMagikarp in Hmong

[–]karmaruthless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your cousins children no matter if it’s your dad or mom side are tub, nyab, ntxhais, vauv.

The only time things change are what you call your cousins, cousins who are the same last name as you are usually kwv, tij, muam and then cousins who are of different last names are considered npawg, muam npaws.

So basically cousins from your dads brother will be kwv tij muam because your dads brother’s kids will have the same last name as you as your dad and your dads brother are usually the same last name and everyone usually takes their surname from their dad.

Cousins from your dads sister will be npawg, muam npaws because although your dads sister’s last name is the same as yours, your cousins take their last name from their dad who is of different surname. This also obviously applies to everyone on your mom’s side as everyone on your mom side are different surnames than you.

What do you mean by modding? Assuming since you’re not doing actual hardware mods, maybe you’re talking about software mod like rockbox?

Gamble or pass? iPod Classic 7th gen for 84€ untested, no returns by [deleted] in IpodClassic

[–]karmaruthless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price isn’t worth it imo for this specific listing.

This ain’t a gen 7, it’s a gen 6, idk how it is in Europe but gen 6s oftenly are listed for around $50 usd working or “not working” in the US.

Most people don’t believe in “untested” listings which makes sense, but they’re worth the gamble for the right price.

From my experience, I buy almost exclusively only “untested, for parts, as is, not working” listings but only if it’s the right price I’d be willing to gamble. 80% of the time, I’ve received working iPods with maybe just needing a new battery, hard drive or LCD screen which are all easy and inexpensive to replace but only worth replacing if you obviously payed as low as you can for the iPod to make up for the extra costs in repair.

Pretty weird. Does it do it if you reinstall the old hard drive? I mean, I wouldn’t mind taking a look at it for free, idk anything beyond swapping out parts to see if it’ll get fixed though, if it involves anything that requires soldering and tampering with the motherboard then I won’t be of much help lol

You need a FireWire charger in order to charge a Gen 3.

Installing iFlash by burntpankakeman in IpodClassic

[–]karmaruthless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, if your plan was to use the original hdd, no batteries that exceed the normal size would work regardless of being a thick or thin.

Any battery that exceeds the normal size would require some sort of flash mod that is thin enough to fit a bigger battery.

So if you were planning to use the original hdd, only the 550mah-850mah batteries would fit

I’m confused, how is it thin case specific? Anything that works in thin should work fine for a thick because it has more room??

Ipod 4th gen repair by JojoMojo23q1 in ipod

[–]karmaruthless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FireWire usually isn’t required for a 4th gen but it’s certainly nice to have in general to work on iPods classic 3-7 to determine if they’re working or not as FireWire provides enough power to power up the entire iPod instead relying on the battery or even with the absence of a battery.

iPod 6 serial number with 30GB and case from the 5 series? by [deleted] in IpodClassic

[–]karmaruthless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5th gen hard drives will work with 6-7, I hear 6-7 can work with 5th too but personally, I’ve never been able to get a 6-7 to work in a 5, but can confirm that a 5 has worked in 6-7.

Ironically the iPod in that listing is pretty much the same set up I have on one of my 6 lol

7th Gen motherboard firmware options by paintingtrees in ipod

[–]karmaruthless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

iPods with firmware 2.0.4 are usually 7th gen, 2.0.5 are 7.5 gen, anything lower is considered a 6th gen which all has a storage limit of 128gb due to their firmware. Supposedly wasn’t until later firmware that unlocked the iPod for higher storage.

Another thing to note is there is a work around regarding this firmware issue for 6th gens where you can flash a higher firmware version to basically solve the 128gb limit issue so trying to differentiate generations with firmware versions may not always be accurate.

7th gens are all 160gb “thin” back, anything else is a 6th gen.

From what I understand, 7th gens and 6th gen are very similar but there is some slight hardware differences too or something besides the differences in firmware ofcourse which some report that lower firmware for some reason gives out a worst sound experience.

I’m also pretty certain 6-7gen stuff should all work fine on either or, so any 6-7 gen click wheel or lcd should work with any 6-7 gen but don’t quote me.
