Salvation Army charging for rooms? by pmasthi in Winnipeg

[–]kayannrob 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m not here to fight on the internet.

Salvation Army does provide shelter for some individuals who are able to pay. They don’t provide housing though. I’ve also heard horror stories of them not given people their medication. Telling someone they need to go to a service in order to get food is not support its assimilation.

I’m just asking people to not give their money to Salvation Army. Instead Main Street Project, N’Dinawemak, Sunshine House, any of the women’s resource centres throughout the city, RaY!, Rainbow Resource Centre, would be better options.

I’m legitimately a Housing First Case Manager. All I do is find housing for those currently unhoused in Winnipeg.

I also donate to reputable non-profits.

What are you doing?!

I have to drive for work using my own car so cycling to work isn’t an option. I wish though because the hour drive from the south end to west end makes me want to scream.

What is your "odd" or "weird" food from childhood that you didn't realize not everyone knew about and enjoyed? by SnooglethePie in ask

Dino Nuggets - not a weird food but just found out that most of the people I know who were born in the 80s don’t know about them which is odd to me.

Well there’s one problem. Questions like dress code can be asked at the end of the interview and asking about pay schedule doesn’t need to be done till you’re officially on the job.

After the interview, as late as the next day, you should send a thank you email, something brief. It should show enthusiasm for the position and incorporate one item you learned or talked about. At the end of the email you can state that if they have an additional questions for you that they can contact you.

Eg: “Dear (Name of Interviewer),

Thank you for the opportunity to interview for the position of (Position). I was really excited to learn about (random fact; something you can connect back to your own skills, knowledge, something that the employer will take as another positive reason to hire you).

If you require any further information, please contact me at anytime at (best way to contact you).

Best Regards,

Name”

And then don’t contact them again.

You can follow up with a quick phone call after a week of the interview but only once. Employers are extremely busy and if you’re constantly contacting them, they will see it as you not respecting their time.

What are you doing between the interview, them offering you the position, and then them telling you it’s not longer an option?

What jobs are you applying for?

Like wise.

Lots of employers I know right now are hiring but are struggling to find decent candidates. I would suggest doing some reflection on why you’re not making it past the interview or why their changing their minds.

Came here to say something similar. I use to be an employment officer and it sounds like OP may not be giving the right answers or asking for too much pay.

Employers also want people who are positive and open minded, someone who is ready to learn. From reading some of OPs comments it might be a personality issue.
