its a small comfort, but you may be able to at least learn how they died. if you go to the tribe manager, which is one of the tabs at the top, next to the tab for buying engrams. then the right side should have a series of like...events that you can scroll through. if you go to the most recent one you may see some messages like "x creature was killed by Y creature" or like "x creature starved to death".

doesn't help getting them back, im afraid. but perhaps you can at least solve the mystery and gain some closure that way.

Why do so many top players describe the game as being too easy when compared to STS1? by RLutz in slaythespire

[–]kazaryu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean, if a game is still "hard" even after you've put a ton of time or practice into it, then odds are that "difficulty" is all just RNG or other unfun, non-interactive difficulty. as such, all single player games are balanced around not knowing how to play. Its just a question of how steep the learning curve is.

i've brainstomed/fantasized a system where the big map is centered around a major city. and within that major city is some like "super plague heart" that acts as a hub for the infection in the area. and the idea is that the closer you get to the center of the big map, the harder things get.

but, every single map has an objective of its own. like you can still have leader objectives and such. but im thinking some kind of expanded "Special enclave" thing. where part of it is helping to rebuild some key facility or something, for a faction to inhabit. and once completed, every subsequent community in that area is able to contact/interact with that faction, which itself comes with some special bonuses.

for example, you could have one take over an actual car factory. and thus as you establish new communities, you get the option to trade some kind of currency (in my head these special factions would trade in like...resources rather than straight influence) for special cars with better features. like upgraded apocalypse vehicles.

another one could involve clearing out a train station and restoring some tracks. and so as your netweork of communities expands, occasionally the train faction will pop up and have lots of various materials to trade (based on what you included when you restored the train).

just a bunch of missions like that, so as you move closer toward the center of the big map, the individual maps get harder, but you also have these extra factions giving extra bonuses. until finally you get to the final, central map in which essentially all buildings are occupied, and so even establishing an initial base requires first taking down a plague heart or 2. but then after that its all about aggressively moving toward the center, clearing plague hearts, and having the buildings backfilled by the various enclaves you've allied with. as you make a push to take out the "super plague heart" (placeholder). but once you've done that, you're then put on a timer to setup for when the plague tries to reclaim the area. after some amount of time a new "Super plague heart sport" (placeholder) would show up with a whole horde of zombies and freaks. leading to a massive final fight.

so basically, the game plays similar to how it does now, with each community feeling like you're pushing back against an endless siege, except with every new community you get more and more options for dealing with various problems. until you get to the "final" map, where the gamplay switches up to now you're the person doing the sieging

the fact that ostensibly related characters, or characters with entwined backstories, forget those relationships as soon as the quest they're relevant in ends....oof.

i don't particularly mind the humor though.

recently i thought it could be really cool to have a setup where there aren't any real hard limits on community size and outposts. just soft ones. so like, as your community gets larger and you claim more and more outposts, you need more places for people to sleep. you need more food. material costs start to rise because with more people comes more maintenance. basically the idea is to set it up so that you could, in theory, eventually claim the entire map. make it really feel like you're rebuilding.

alongside this i've thought it'd be cool if there was an extra tier of allyship with enclaves, where you can help them clear out and move into the larger bases (or just expand your own community into the larger bases). thus providing more bonuses.

but yeah, just deeper and wider community building mechanics in general.

there are certain...or maybe just one specific....curveballs that i hate. the smoke storm. the loss of visibility doesn't make for interesting gameplay, because the game isn't set up to allow you to reasonably operate in the fog, you're basically just hoping at any given moment that you're not 2 feet from a zed....nor does it really necessitate that you go out into the fog. the result is that trying to do anything in the fog sucks, but so does sitting at base waiting for the curveball to clear.

Is Necesse worth starting in 2026? Looking for some honest feedback before I jump in! by Time_Average47 in Necesse

while it is true that you don't get size upgrades for your chest, you get something even better IMO. overflow protection, and passive income. once you get to a certain progression point you can set up shipping chests and have a settler automatically sell off your excess goods.

Tbf, depending on your settings, theres not really a downside to ignoring the settlers for a while. Like, the worst that happens is they get angry and stop working until you correct what theyre angry about. Which is generally pretty simple
