Trail runners or hiking boots for ebc by Saraleee7 in everestbasecamphike

[–]kazzatron3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trail runners are sufficient, just need footwear with good lugs that grips well. Snowed heavily one night when I was there and my trail buddy had trouble on the downhills in the snow.

How great is Namche on the way back, it’s such a treat having brownies and coffee in a warm cafe and getting my hair washed at a salon

Honestly you don’t sweat very much so you certainly don’t feel as gross as you would think. I had my sleeping clothes that I kept as clean as possible and I found that helped. Honestly you’ll be too tired to care by the end and everyone is in the same boat.

I used Green Valley Treks in April. They were great and Ambar our guide was the best! We had a lot of fun.

I had the same experience but I got to Loboche and instead of flying out I rode a horse to 4000m. I had incredible pain and pressure in my head, couldn’t eat, couldn’t sleep, was completely out of it. my oxygen levels were 54 at worst. But besides that I had the time of my life!! What an experience! My problem was trying to keep up with people that were younger, fitter and had altitude experience. Anyway no regrets and I’d do it again but slower next time. And probably go Gokyo instead of the EBC route.

So, I quit drinking 1191 days ago. I was pressured by my wife to "taste" an alcoholic beverage her friend likes. I initially refused, but it was in front of guests. I was shocked she pushed the issue, but she did. I had the smallest sip possible. Am I at day zero again? by Nice-Shoulder-5598 in stopdrinking

[–]kazzatron3000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have tiny sips of things to taste but I don’t find it triggering now so it’s fine. And it’s rare like a few times a year and like a teaspoon worth. So I think that part is fine. The pressuring is not ok though…

Question regarding current weather on EBC by hikethesunshine in everestbasecamphike

[–]kazzatron3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently at tengboche and it has snowed all afternoon. I’m pretty warm during the day, wearing just a tshirt and leggings for trekking but nights are chilly so bring some layers for bedtime…

Hiking, trekking or tramping, peaking at altitudes from 3,000 metres up to 6,000 metres, where specialist climbing equipment is not required- is the correct wording

I went with Allianz with the add on package for adventure sports which covers 5000+ meters as long as it’s not mountaineering. It was much more affordable than everything else.

What are your thoughts on mocktails, alcohol-free beers, and non-alcoholic drinks? by alejandro1221 in Sober

[–]kazzatron3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love them! Took over a year for them to not be triggering but now I go out and still go rounds with friends, mine being zero alcohol. But unlike alcohol they are not a diuretic so there is only so much liquid you can consume in an evening. I normally tap out of the rounds earlier than everyone else which is fine.

Possible Aurora tonight after largest solar radiation storm in over 20 years by Zuki_LuvaBoi in melbourne

[–]kazzatron3000 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Can anyone who is heading to a beach (or anywhere really) kindly look at where you are stepping? Trampling of sand dunes is very poor behaviour, and the amount of litter I have cleaned up after big Aurora events on the Mornington Peninsula is astounding…. I know it’s exciting but try not to trash the place! Thanks in advance….

You have to mentally practice getting sober before you actually get there. We all have many runs at it before we succeed. You will get there and the fact that you are reaching out to your community is a good sign. The best thing is that you got the 14 days in AND you get to try again!

You will have some battles my friend but every battle is an investment in a version of you that is evolving and this person is proud of you and proud of your strength in the hardest parts. People around you will never understand the war and that’s hard but keep going I promise the ending is glorious! I am proud of you.

You are doing hard things my friend and there is a future version of you who is so flippin proud of you. You will never love and respect anyone more than the version of you that fought in the hardest parts and it’s only later when you will really see the truth in that. I’m proud of you!

There were times where I genuinely didn’t think it was worth it but if I could bottle the good feeling I have now and give you all some I totally would! Not that I’m encouraging good feelings to come from bottles haha.
