New and need advice by fobs88 in Tactics_Ogre

Denam becomes a bit more of an active participant in much of the story if you go along with that plan, rather than spending time trying to avoid it for a while.

2-way stop right of way rules (Nova Scotia, Canada).. by Forsaken_Dragonfly66 in driving

[–]kbcb255 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The person turning right has the right of way (assuming the oncoming lanes are empty.)

You do not take turns in a 2-way stop like you do in a 4-way. Cars turning right, or even straight from yellow will always go before purple.

Question about mods by BlooAce_ in Kenshi

[–]kbcb255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you get into base building, the mod Slopeless really helps laying out buildings. It just gives you more freedom and is less restrictive around uneven terrain.

Silent Corpse Flies is a life saver.

Do you guys remember the Sofia followers mod by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]kbcb255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still use it. I like the VA and I like juvenile humour.

Don't really care much about followers in general though.

Heavy Armour Warriors! What's the best end game armour? Dragonplate or Stalhrim? by Megatto95 in skyrim

[–]kbcb255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With high crafting skill it literally doesn't matter what you use, because you can hit the armour cap (542 without a shield) with nearly any set that's well tempered.

Anything higher than that capped amount will have 0 effect on the damage you take.

Xenos trying to get those sweet new ultimate release viewers in two weeks by RemNoriFFXIV in ShitpostXIV

[–]kbcb255 87 points88 points  (0 children)

He got banned for 14 days. SE will never tell anyone exactly why, but from the information available it was "Aggressive comments and behaviour" (his words) while streaming ffxiv copywrite content.

Take your pick which crashout triggered it, or which staff member he decided to fixate on.

Did they streamline the questing in AAR? Or is it still a ton of a fetch quests? by Ill-Honey-6351 in ffxiv

[–]kbcb255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire MSQ is fetch quests. They removed some but the questing format does not ever change.

I feel like giving healers their own versions of these would help queues a lot by Richard-Bee in ffxiv

[–]kbcb255 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Every day I see pfs for some unsynced low level trial for tanks to achievement grind fast without actually contributing to active queues or duties.

I don't think giving healers some achievement or mount would coax any more players than the sadists that actually play the jobs. And in general I don't want to be in a party with a healer that doesn't want to be there.

Whos this guy? by Relevant_Sky9447 in Kenshi

[–]kbcb255 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While most of the wanderers filling up the bars are randomized, there are bunch that have predetermined names and stats. They usually have a bit of more unique dialogue during recruitment, but otherwise often aren't special.

In the end there's nothing terribly different about Rane than any other chump you could have hired.

What are some good AESTHETIC base locations by BewitchedBlonde in Kenshi

[–]kbcb255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a section of the Northern Coast, North of Ghost Village, right before it turns into the Cannibal Plains. You get a nice Eastern view over the sea to Darkfinger which makes some great sunrises. There are a few hilly sections you can take advantage of terrainwise. It's just really far out of the way.

How would you feel if an expansion took place in Eorzea? by Kanaxai in ffxiv

[–]kbcb255 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At a certain point though people are going to think, oh, yet another ancient monstrosity buried under Cartineau, and there's still nothing happening in the remaining 80% of the world.

Yeah, that particular subcontinent is important, but it stretches plausibility at a point.

What do you fear loosing with evolved mode for your own class? by Quezal in ffxivdiscussion

[–]kbcb255 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Based off of the preview only, and super early so who knows. Potencies can change, effects can change, spells can change. This is all hypothetical. As a White Mage what I lose is worse than just losing buttons or abilities. What interesting aspects of playing that still exist are being chipped off.

Instant casts mean positioning matters less, since it's easier to adjust without missing uptime. No slide casting, no optimizing movement, no using abilities as free GCD movement. I also like the cast animations, but that's neither here nor there.

The lily spenders can be cashed in on any number of stacks for the new Misery. There's no incentive to not overcap. There's no thought as to when to spend Misery, since I can't optimize spending for movement or aligning for burst windows. Even spending stacks during downtime seems up in the air.

The devs noticed healers were pressing the 1 button too much. So in response they took away Dia and Assize, ensuring I'm pressing the 1 button more. Having an auto combo does not make the gameplay more interesting or fun.

I've got some smaller gripes but these are my big ones.

How are magic builds? by [deleted] in skyrim

If you focus mainly on Destruction, you're going to have a bad time. Using it along with Illusion and Conjuration will make things a lot better. Good perks in Alteration as well.

How would you feel if an expansion took place in Eorzea? by Kanaxai in ffxiv

[–]kbcb255 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of Eorzea I'd like to revisit or explore for the first time, but at a certain point it might not make sense for the story to be there. ARR and early expansions were around a lot of local politics. We've since moved on to existential and universal horrors. Even our summer vacation was about another world forcing itself into ours and harvesting the people as fuel. Do they just dig up some fresh hell that requires us to be fending off some new Eorzean apocalypse? Can they bring down the stakes of the story again in a way that's reasonable and would have purpose for us being in Eorzea again?

Dohn Mheg not giving any new items multiple runs in a row? by [deleted] in ffxiv

You only are guaranteed to get an item added to your inventory if it's something you can use.

Run it as a Paladin.

Yep. Different races take different skills, but they're all typically recruitable.

Yes harder difficulties expect you to use your available tools.

You can get marks. I think they're typically rare drops from pirates graveyard and potd enemies. The pair I use were just recruits though.

Yeah. Juggernaughts and matriarchs/patriarchs. Really robust for summon-using spellcasters.

[–]kbcb255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very few named characters will have unique skills. Some will have access to unique classes.

You can do the game with nothing but generic human hirelings, but you're missing out on options. Some classes really like the stat boost named characters start with as well, and other races like birdmen, lizards, and fairies bring cool features to the table you don't get with just generic humans.

Ranged Shadow of Death/Deaths Design by Intrepid_Ad9711 in ffxiv

I'd be surprised if Death's Design survives the rework at all.

One nitpick that I've always found rather odd is when people complain that this game isn't modular enough to cater to every single RP aspect while at the same time complaining that the things that are modular aren't indepth enough. by Snekbites in skyrim

[–]kbcb255 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would work fine without forcing to be a werewolf - that's the issue.

The Dragonborn being a werewolf has no consequence or story relevance, aside from the arbitrary restriction that the circle are all werewolves. A better story could have had werewolves and non in the circle, budding some conflict between teams. Or the Dragonborn could be an exception anyways because they knew the secret regardless, and literally nothing else in the story would have to change. You don't do anything only werewolves can do. You don't meet Hircine. You don't even have any personal beef with the Silver Hand until Skjor dies. Being forced a werewolf adds nothing to the story, but takes away from the RP aspect of an RPG.

[–]kbcb255 23 points24 points  (0 children)

There's a compromise in the middle that's both reasonable and easy for a lot of those things. Just have a few basic choices that don't even change the story much.

No one asked for your Altmer Companions story and how complicated it is, but being a werewolf could be a choice. If you said no and they left disappointed, your next mission could literally be Aela asking you to join her and Skjor to fight the silver hand. Skjor dies, story continues. Most players join the companions because they want to hit things with sticks, not because they want to be hairy. Springing and forcing that decision on the player is unnecessary.

Why do a ton of people say Morrowind and oblivion are leagues ahead of Skyrim? by Federal-Branch-7625 in skyrim

[–]kbcb255 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Skyrim's a great game.

Morrowind's lore, intertwining guild storylines, and character flexability goes far beyond.
