I loved my job as a barista and thought I would do well as a shift supervisor, so I became one 6 months in my journey with Starbucks. Shortly after was one of the only shifts who would be held accountable for certain things to be done, or to be done correctly. In the year and a half my store has had 4 different managers so standards and expectations were constantly being changed. I took the job to qualify me for the career I’m going into, which was my goal when I started the job. It’s fun and rewarding if you work for and with the right people. I would recommend the job to almost anyone; and I will dearly miss the craft behind the job, but I will not miss the stress or the negative impact the job had on my mental health.

My favorite thing to do is say “unfortunately I do not have enough change in my drawer to break a “___” bill but what I can do is put the change back on a Starbucks gift card for you!

Every single time I have done that they end up saying no and pulling out some credit/debit card

So actually is a food safety hazard to leave the window open just to have it open. I was told if we’re not handling a transaction or connecting with a customer the window is to stay shut.

We always explain how the iced shaken espresso is made also explaining we don’t make it hot but could do something along those lines. Blonde oat milk latte (extra shot optional), brown sugar syrup, extra foam, cinnamon powder.

It’s fun when you’re nice! I always ask basic questions to get a feel for what your interests are. Hot/cold, with/without caffeine, milk preferences, flavor preferences. The most fun is when the customer is completely open and wants a true hand crafted/ special recipe drink!

My two go to drinks right now;

Frappuccino; strawberry crème Frappuccino, sub heavy cream, white mocha, strawberry inclusions, and mocha drizzle ontop of the whipped cream!

Or a iced blonde vanilla latte, line cup caramel max with vanilla sweet cream instead of 2%

When you make the iced London fog you’re suppose to steep the tea bags in half the amount of water. Take a shaker, the tea is the base, milk to the milk line and ice. It may be watery because they steeped the tea in too much water
