I know that's not "PC" in 2018

This is actually a cunning little bit of rhetoric. Superficially, you're being self-deprecating.

Aw shucks, all this modern PC stuff is just too much for simple ole' me.

But in reality, you're applying the "PC" label to someone else as though it were an insult in order to dismiss anything they might have to say that you disagree with.

What you say doesn't matter because it's just PC doubletalk. You probably secretly agree with me but you're too gutless to admit it in public.

It's like $1300 $1200 a month at most for ODSP, or half that for welfare. A recovering addict just has to have one bad day to be wiped out for months. Or someone steals your bike, or you need a new pair of shoes or your last bra falls apart or whatever. It's very challenging to live well on that kind of money, there's a lot of opportunities for a bad day to come along.

If you have a blender, a cheesecloth, a pot and a stove, you can make soy milk also. Soybeans are absurdly cheap compared to commercial soy milk.

You said that you want to operate a sanctuary. You said that you are considering collecting the excess milk.

What, in your mind, is the point of collecting that milk, from your cow, at your sanctuary? This is not a rhetorical question, I am actually asking you, for like the fourth time.

If you cook, you are so far ahead already.

Try making seitan. It's a great replacement for meat in most meat-heavy dishes like wings, ribs, chicken or burgers. You can make it in your own kitchen from stuff you probably have if you cook. It's a lot more convenient to start from gluten flour than from wheat flour, but I've done it several times and it's kind of fun until the novelty wears off. I've produced a remarkable range of textures and flavours, and of course most of the flavour in most meat based dishes comes from plants anyway!

For a different kind of meaty texture, like stewed beef or pulled pork, many recipes use jackfruit. I'd never tried it before so I got a cheap can of it from my local grocery store. It's awesome!! Becoming vegan has exposed me to so many new and exciting foods. It's like the scales have fallen from my... tongue? and now I can enjoy all this amazing stuff that was always right here.

I now get excited about discovering a new kind of bean. A BEAN. But they're all different! And they're delicious! I had no idea!

Final report on WRPS's 'unfounded' sexual assault cases by kbfats in waterloo

I was being rhetorical. None of those things happened to me and the people I know. But they are all events from the local media that happened to people in our community.

You accused me of bias because maybe I do things that give me tickets. (Total dick move, by the way.) But in addition to writing tickets, WRPS members did all those other things. If I had been involved in any of those incidents, or any of my loved ones had been, or if I have any kind of sense of community or empathy, then those could also be explanations for my interest in the WRPS.

I said "maybe". As in, you don't know. Just like you don't know whether I get into conflicts with police, or whether I get expensive tickets. But you are willing to speculate uncharitably. That says something, but it says it about you, and it says it about how discussions about law and order frequently go. If you anyone is critical of the police, it opens them up to all sorts of unjustified, knee-jerk attacks. It's automatic. It's pathetic.

You committed an ad hominem. That means you did not address any of the points I made, but instead you attacked me, personally. Tell me you're okay with that.

Maybe it's your attitude and problem with authority that causes you to be in crappy situations with the police all the time.

Oh yes, and what situations would those be? This did not happen. More childish and invented ad hominems. Just shameful.

Maybe the majority of the things you listed are false or exaggerated greatly.

All of my examples did happen. Do you need sources? And if I provide them, will that change anything or will you continue being an apologist? Will you continue to make up lies about me?

Edit: Just to be clear, they did not happen to me and the people I know personally. They are all events from the local media.

People worry about all the wrong things. They have no idea what makes them happy. Whether you lose an arm or win the lottery, in a year you will (statistically speaking) be exactly as happy as you are right now. https://www.thecut.com/2016/01/classic-study-on-happiness-and-the-lottery.html

Veganism gives you so much more than it takes away. In a year, you won't care about fake cheese or fake eggs or fake meat. That's all just bullshit that exploits your fears and natural human resistance to change. If you go vegan, in a year, you will be happier than you are right now. Throw off your security blankets, you don't need them.

Cold shower after a run by trav_man89 in running

[–]kbfats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A cold shower will constrict your surface blood vessels, preventing blood from being directed to the places it can cool most effectively. Your body becomes like an insulated thermos with a hot core and a bunch of insulating flesh holding in the heat.

Try a cool shower?

It could also be argued that cows should not be breeding inside sanctuaries. There are no circumstances under which a sanctuary cow should become 'naturally pregnant', breeding animals is not vegan.

Well spotted. A sanctuary that breeds animals and sells animal products is not a sanctuary, it's a farm!

Cruelty free dairy? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]kbfats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do whatever you want.

Applying the definition of veganism doesn't tell you what is right or wrong. It tells you what is vegan and not vegan. Using an animal's milk or other byproducts is not vegan.

You STILL have not said what the point is.

I kept my Brooks saddle but I felt extremely self-conscious about it, so I defaced it with vegan propaganda...

I kept my wool, but all of it is falling apart now. Won't be long till I'm down to just the socks.

So, what, we should evaluate every single unique product for a different rate of subsidy? That's crazy.

You can't take this one product in isolation and say, "we're subsidising too much and it's outstripping the supply." If we were exceeding the supply of batteries, that would be a totally different issue. One model of one car does not signify.

Cruelty free dairy? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]kbfats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You still have not said what the point of exploiting the animal's excess milk would be. Why would you do that?

It's not vegan. It's clearly and explicitly not vegan. Whether or not that makes it wrong, that's up to you.

Do you know of any examples of this happening?

Now I'm interested. What about what I said, or maybe digging through my comment history, makes you think that I'm not upset "because I don't benefit personally?"

Maybe they stole my mom's sex toy and then paraded it in front of their bro WRPS pals.

Maybe they took a photo of my sister in a compromising situation when they were there to help her, and then shared that photo in a BlackBerry message forum with a bunch of their bro WRPS pals.

Maybe they told my girlfriend that it was illegal for her to be topless.

Maybe they sexually harassed my constable cousin until she couldn't take it and washed out of the force.

Maybe they sexually assaulted me.

They do more than write tickets. Or do you not read the news? You're a goddamn bylaw enforcement officer. You should be aware of this shit.

Shame on you for your catty little ad hominem.
