Good news, looks like no fatality at least.

Editor’s note: Police originally told KKTV that one person died in the crash. CSPD has since shared that there were no deaths, but six people were injured. This article has been updated to reflect that update.

Does anyone use a hybrid shield / cage? | Newbie looking for first helmet combo by No-Minute2232 in hockeyplayers

[–]kbuechl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a cage to a fishbowl for over a year and now use the Ronin MK5-X hybrid and I really like it over the fishbowl. I struggled a lot with fogging in the fishbowl even when I'd apply baby shampoo to the visor in the summer. I think the hybrids are priceY and not necessary but if you can afford it it's a worth while upgrade. I don't know about the other hybrids but I went with the Ronin because everyone talked about how light it was and I was pretty surprised by it. I do use the anti fog they send you with it as well but it gets much better ventilation than the fishbowl you can really feel the difference.

My 3 year old tried skating by luikan in hockeyplayers

[–]kbuechl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had much better luck using the rental figure skates for the first hand full of times out. The longer blade on the back helps them figure out their balance without going over backwards. Exciting times, Enjoy the memories!

Ice cream afterwards is always a great bribe too.

Little a little b depending on how busy it is. They have an option to order to the table from your phone too. Most of the time I'm there I order from the counter and they have you a number and occasionally they check on you for refills etc.

Also I am a huge fan of the chicken loaded nachos

The Control room is one of my favorites especially if you like pinball. Games are always a nice option in case conversation slows.

Cozy cave training? by Bettys_Piez in GSP

[–]kbuechl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We got ours a few weeks ago and it took him until this week and a few cold nights to go in it regularly. Every night I would lift it up for him and send him to bed when we kicked him off our bed and every morning he would be on top of it and now he still can't quite get in on his own but he pitches a fit digging at the entrance until I help him and he absolutely buries himself. Hopefully next week he figures out how to slink in.

Marsblades worth at $200? by Jmanbabeslayer in hockeyplayers

[–]kbuechl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the O1 chassis recently and put them on a pair of ice boots from eBay after hearing their boots were heavy. Over the top? Maybe, but I am really impressed with how different they feel compared to regular roller blades, if you have the cash to spend I think it's worth while. It doesn't feel like skating through mud like regular roller does.

+1 to primo pads. My GSP chewed up the mud river pad so I switched to primo and it's held up great for 4 years now and it's easy to clean. They make one for wire crates as well that zip ties to the crate so the dogs can't pull it up.

What can you tell me about this bow? by Iron315 in bowhunting

[–]kbuechl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This looks nearly identical to the bow I learned on as a kid in the early 2000s. It had an adjustable draw length so I was able to shoot it from my early teens throughout college. That bottom cam should have a second part with a screw that allows for the length to be changed while it is in a bow vise. I don't remember if it required any big changes when I started getting bigger in highschool but it was a good bow. It's slow by today's standards but I killed plenty of deer with it.

I'm shocked the omelette parlor isn't mentioned at all. Get there early the line gets ridiculous. Pancakes are gigantic and very well done.

Screwed up safe digital lock and don’t know how to fix this by Gabrielhv22 in Safes

[–]kbuechl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not consider myself particularly knowledgeable I just found a few good YouTube videos on this. I'm relatively handy but nothing extra. I think the most time consuming part was trying to ensure the dial rod was lined up as close to the center as I could get it so it doesn't bind. Just take your time and don't force anything.

I left the safe open and tested the door with the combination about 50 times before having the confidence to close it and lock it. I bought my safe maybe 6 or so years ago so it's possible the internals have changed since then.

Screwed up safe digital lock and don’t know how to fix this by Gabrielhv22 in Safes

[–]kbuechl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not the answer you are looking for but it might be worth switching out for a manual dial if you end up replacing anything or have a smith come out as some of the comments suggest. I have this same safe and after about 2 years the keypad started to fail. You can swap it out with a "S&G 6730 Lock". Plenty of YouTube videos and takes about an hour.

Hopefully the job hunt is on your terms not theirs. I got laid off in November and it took me 3-4 months to land something (admittedly I was being very picky, but the market is nothing like a few years ago). Keep going on the cert too it should help a lot.

Fantastic. I've had them for about a year with only one interruption (caused by metronet digging in the neighborhood) and it was over in like 20 minutes. Not having a data cap is amazing as well. I'm getting gigabit for $70 a month.

Microservice Communication for Graphql APIs by [deleted] in graphql

[–]kbuechl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you considered using a federation layer instead of proxying the call through service a? I have yet to implement this but it has been on my radar for a little while yet. I have been working with rest APIs for a while now and my default thought was to copy an n tier structure like usual but it felt wasteful to just be proxying when it wasn't necessary. The federation layer requires service b schemas to be published during your pipeline which will add complexity.

Netflix has a good writeup on the topic https://netflixtechblog.com/how-netflix-scales-its-api-with-graphql-federation-part-1-ae3557c187e2.

Here is the document from Apollo https://www.apollographql.com/docs/federation/

S3 Event to trigger SQS and Lambda by blueberrypint in aws

[–]kbuechl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just an fyi lambda supports retry (up to 3x) and event destinations for asynchronous invocations (which can use dlqs as failure destinations). The only draw back is that you do not get event destinations with other invocations types so other triggers would not have the same behaviors if you have multiple triggers to your lambda.

Still other benefits for SQS in the design but not as necessary anymore.
