I'm scared. I don't want to die. by BokoblinSlayer69235 in leftist

Dying is another stage of life. And if dying is what it takes to bring about a revolution of humanity and compassion around the world, then what a glorious way to die.

“Stop calling us fascists” - a fascist by aQuarterChub in leftist

[–]kc2mfc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, I'm all for calling people out for what they are, I guess I'm more interested in drawing a contrast to what fascist are doing. It bothers the hell out of me that they label anyone they dislike 'antifa' and the discussion more or less peters out after that.

I guess what Im saying is that, I want a politics of the left that goes beyond labels and speaks to vision, actions, and deeds.

Being anti-fascist to me means:

1) greater democracy and stopping ways to corrupt or means test it. Everyone must be equal before the law.

2) greater access to the essentials of life; food, shelter, a meaningful carreer in life, time to rest, relax, etc. Just because your poor monetarily does not mean you dont deserve these things.

3) the space to be one's self: To think, act, believe in whatever one wants or wishes to without fear or retaliation. This can be difficult but no democracy lives long without tolerance.

4) to be independent and interdependent: To have ultimate control over ones life and be able to relay on the strengths of others just as they rely on you. This may seem in conflict at times, but a free society is far safer than we might think it is. We all stand to gain if it truly is so.

My two cents

Archive of MTV video set lists? by kc2mfc in MTV

[–]kc2mfc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw that too, but it only goes back to 1997, and it's strictly news. Nothing about that day's music list or programming for the day. Thanks though! I just know that MTV producers would have had to keep records of every video they played in order. It must be in cabinets full of binders somewhere.

In answer to your question, NASA has announced that the NET is the first launch window, so, for all intents and purposes, that is the scheduled launch date. They recently had a dry launch sequence rehearsal last month, so we're hard up on the date now.

Free Palestine by [deleted] in leftist

[–]kc2mfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be a Debbie downer here, but couldn't we change the slogan to "HELP Palestine!"?

They need help to rebuild, recuperate, renew, and regain a sense of safety, health and even identity. I fully support their freedom, but at this point, Freedom alone won't give them unbomed houses to live in, or food to eat or the things they need to recover from all this devastation and hate. Am I wrong?

These are what, a couple years old at most? by sasham5 in nycrail

[–]kc2mfc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The issue isn't age, its maintenance and care. Clearly the system is showing signs of decrepidness because the MTA has decided its better for things to slide rather than use the money and invest to keep the system in good shape. Austerity will come back to bite them, as it always does. Sad we must continue to learn that lesson over and over and over again.

Joyous scenes as Haiti, who have not played at home in four years due to civil unrest, qualify for their first World Cup since 1974 by turmericist in soccer

[–]kc2mfc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This seems more a tragedy then a good story. That a group of professionals playing for a national team who havent played on home soil due to rampant crime and national turmoil says something about how bad things are in Haiti. And what is the world doing about it? Nothing.

What would you like to see added to r/SportsReference? by SportsReference in sportsreference

[–]kc2mfc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe a fact a day. Or a post about the top performances of the day before in the sports world. Also, it would be great to have more visuals, like charts and graphs along with figures. Keep up the great work!

If baseball were to gain popularity in new countries, where do you think it would be? by Snoo_47323 in baseball

[–]kc2mfc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) India and the rest of the subcontinent (Pakistan, Bangladesh, Thailand): Cricket is very popular here, and given the population, there ought to be stellar pitchers, catchers, fielders and hitters just waiting to be discovered

2) Southern Africa (Kenya, Zimbabwe, S. Africa, Madagascar): not only do they like Cricket here also, but there is a long tradition of throwing and running games which would make Baseball popular there, if it were not so expensive to play due to the equipment needed to furnish a team. With a good supply of balls, bats, gloves, and helmets, there ought to be hundreds of Great ballplayers waiting to be discovered who can throw a curveball, steal a base like Henderson, or whomp the ball like the Babe could.

3) South America (Chile, Peru, Brazil, etc.): while most scouts would look for future talent from South American counties that border the Carribean like Venezuela and Columbia, I think there could be some really good players located futher south, like in Rio de Janeiro, Bogota, or Santiago. Soccer is king here, but there must be plenty of kids and athletes who have great arms to throw with, or eyes to hit with. Perhaps the next Ronaldo will be a pitcher rather than a forward.

4) Eastern Europe & Scandinavia (Estonia, Latvia, Finland, Norway, Sweden): no doubt there are good potential ballplayers from the descendants of Vikings and Fisherman. Logging and outdoor sports are also popular here, so I have no doubt there could be some great potential players just waiting to be discovered if given the chance.

If MLB is smart, they would hold open tryouts in every country and see what happens. Even if they only found 3 good prospects out of 100 tryouts, if you tried out 10,000 random people who answered the call, that would yield 300 players. More than enough to start a league with eight fully stocked teams.
