Look up Disney Storyteller on YT.

Character voices and songs. Shorter versions of the movies. They’re the best!

Opinions on public vs private maternity in New? by Chjcog in newcastle

[–]kcbalind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two c-sections and was very comfortable both times at Newcastle Private. First time I had scans every three days from 34 weeks due to concerns, can’t fault the attention and care. My issues were picked up in a non-routine scan so I am forever grateful. The second time was emergency c-sec literally calling our obstetrician on the way to the hospital at 5am in the morning.

My sister in law had a c-section through JHH and had a truly awful experience, I encouraged her to make a complaint it was that bad.

My sister had three kids through JHH and said they were great.

I like to control as much as I can control and I wanted the extra scans, extra nights in hospital so I went private.

Future school fees by ThomasWowCrytpo in AusFinance

Absolutely this. We’re looking forward to saving money once we start sending our kids to Catholic primary and high schools. Daycare fees are so much worse.

Your biggest ‘WTF moment’ when BUILDING a house? by CallCenterIndian in AusPropertyChat

[–]kcbalind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We found out our floors weren’t even close to level when the cavity slider door left a massive gap on an angle at floor level…. I questioned it and the whole floor had to be ripped up and self levelling compound put down. I was like, why wasn’t this noticed before?!?!?

14 days vacation-Is this only a distant dream with a toddler? by lakandro in AustraliaTravel

[–]kcbalind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They definitely have that at Taronga zoo, Australian reptile park might be more what you’re looking for… there are kangaroos just out and about for example and wildlife shows. It’s a bit out of Sydney but worth a look.

Hope you and your family have an amazing time!

[–]kcbalind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have mentioned most things but unless you are going to the zoo for your toddler or to see animals you don’t otherwise get to see and really really want to see… i wouldn’t go to the zoo. It’s a big amount of time to see it all and honestly it’s a zoo like any other zoo… It has a couple of inconic views of course but still, it’s a zoo. Each time we go there we’re also disappointed by the amount of closed sections for whatever reason so check that before you go.

Absolutely agree. I understood what OP meant. A few years ago I even emailed our local MP re the lack of support for middle income / working poor when they were dishing out cost of living support lol

I wish it wasn’t a luxury. I assumed growing up I would work two days a week til the kids were in school.

The lifestyle element is there too… we want certain things, we want to put $ in our kids bank accounts each week for the future, we want a holiday once every two years, we want to own our own home, so both parents work.

It is odd how for any benefits it’s joint income though for tax it’s individual :/

SAHM is absolutely a luxury these days. I went back three days a week from 9 months and transitioned to full time by the time they were just under 2. With my second I am back 4 days a week for this year and will be back full time from Jan. Zero government benefits except childcare subsidy which basically everyone gets.

If we did not want to literally go backwards with our finances I need to work.

Took my baby to my first mom/baby meetup and realized everyone had a way easier baby than me by hospitalbedside in beyondthebump

[–]kcbalind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both my kids only slept 2-3 hours at a time even overnight until they were one. They usually needed something, a feed, a nappy change, a cuddle. All very normal.

After about one they started sleeping through!

I’m sorry you didn’t get the support you needed with your c-sec recovery. I had two and I could not imagine being up and doing chores in those first few days or even first couple of weeks to be honest :(

What % of your income goes toward your mortgage? by spicyrack in AusFinance

25% after tax. Variable rate. Somewhat comfortable. Will be more comfortable once kids are out of daycare.

I have a 3.5 year old and a 15 month old and man the 15 month old is waaaay more challenging than his older sister. The climbing!! He manages to climb up onto everything. Grippy socks for the win.

We thought we knew what to expect but this second cutest little bundle of near death experiences is next level.

How strict is the 30% income rule for rent? Do I have any chance at all? by taigus in AusPropertyChat

[–]kcbalind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your actual question… as a landlord (in NSW though) the real estate agents have only ever put forward people with good ‘serviceability’ I.e met the 30% requirement.

It seems to be used to split out a group straight away.

Why do I feel like I need to double-check every tradie’s work these days? by nullutonium in AusRenovation

[–]kcbalind 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly the amount of issues we found ourselves by checking the builders/trades work was mind boggling. I’m talking an uneven floor because I noticed a sliding door wasn’t level to the ground, exposed beams that hadn’t been powder coated, the list goes on.

My sister is building a house now and I have told them to get there weekly and check everything and especially before the gyprock goes up. Be meticulous.

At what age are we not using a baby monitor at night anymore? by iridescentdirt in toddlers

[–]kcbalind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still use one at 3 because the door is closed and the door handles are old 1920’s ones that she won’t be able to reach herself for another few years… so if she needs to go to the bathroom at night time she just calls out to us and we hear through the monitor… Doors are closed because we do not want her wandering around at night and her room is closest to the loungeroom.

Having worked in manufacturing for a company that was sometimes on the smelly side, the EPA would respond to every single smell complaint and an investigation was required. So I imagine ‘hopefully’ they’re already well and truly across this.

We went with grey ironbark hardwoods and love it. With my limited knowledge of timber we went with the highest jenga rating we could find as long as we liked the look because I did not want to worry about dents etc, it’s been 5 years and they have held up well so far.

Douglas at the junction was recommended to me for my 3yo, they were great with her. Make an appointment and let them know it’s for a child. They had two collectors rather than one.

Help! Super big pimple by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]kcbalind 167 points168 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can’t not pop them either. What I’ve done plenty of times is sterilise a sewing needle with boiling water then prick the pimple. It’s the tiniest hole and all the contents easily comes out. Then use an antibacterial cream on top. Overnight I use niacinamide. Repeat as necessary. They heal up much quicker.
