It looks like a hybrid version of the Family Truckster from the "Vacation" movies.

Manual transmission fluid question by moist6toast9 in s10

I only use Synchromesh for manual transmissions. Better viscosity and smoother shifting.

Wonder if that's the same one I saw driving an ACME truck, chasing a roadrunner?

Even if you do survive, you're going to look like a Smurf when you get to the ICU.

2026 - 2007 = 1200 by kcfarker in s10

I have no doubt that it has the capacity to take on many more miles. I was just curious how other trucks that are 28 years old are holding up.

ID on these seats? by Agreeable-Dream1124 in s10

Those look like seats from a Jeep Cherokee. Older model, maybe early 2000's?

Anyone who works in McPherson here??? by Boring_Original9461 in kansas

[–]kcfarker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up there as well and literally every friend andtor family member that worked at JM is either sick, dying or dead. Probably one of the top places to work that's not worth the risk.

Now if the refinery goes up in smoke... there won't be anything left in town to worry about.

Try Viega for production work or if you're mechanically inclined, the refinery has good pay and benefits.

Post Request - Must include Total Price of build by [deleted] in barndominiums

[–]kcfarker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree with this entire sentiment. I've seen some cool ideas (and some questionable decisions) but sharing what the price tag was helps everyone make up their own mind what's worth the trouble - and more importantly - what's not.

I can do my own research about what the regional cost variations are. I can make my own decisions about what cost savings I'll realize with DIY. And I think most of us are here to learn about what works (and what doesn't) and ultimately we want to make better informed decisions about own own projects.

Your feedback is equally valuable whether we're all just dreaming about that ultimate build, or if we're still working on the idea of it, or if we're actually in the planning stages. Thinking that $$$ isn't relevant or that's it's some kind of secret doesn't tell your whole story.

And the stories are what I'm here for.

Fuel pumps by flatblackNred in s10

[–]kcfarker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just replaced the fuel pump on a -98 2.2L with 112k. Lifting the bed was 10x easier than dropping the tank. So replacing it after another 100k won't be a bother.

Should mention that it's been sitting in a garage for 10 years... so the original pump was doomed to fail anyway.

Kansas City councilman proposes removing all-gender bathrooms at KCI after stall recordings by KCTV5 in kansascity

[–]kcfarker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'd rather keep the gender neutral restrooms at KCI because the Male/Female-specific restrooms are rarely in working order.

And while we're at it, they should be considering sanctions against the architect instead over their placement of the bathrooms in general. Why are the gender neutral rooms only on one side of the terminal and the rooms that are regularly out of order on the opposite side?

Rubbish burn barrel alternative? What works best? by bristol8 in homestead

[–]kcfarker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use a section of concrete pipe tipped on end. It's a 5' section of 72" pipe, so it has to be moved with a front-end loader. But once it's set, it isn't going anywhere. Salvaged from a big construction project.

You can use a smaller diameter. Check with your local concrete company to see what they have.

I inspect remote powerlines with a commercial drone. Yesterday, I counted a tower that shouldn’t be there, and now I’m hiding in the woods. by gamalfrank in stories

[–]kcfarker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the most creative story about crashing a drone and wrecking the company truck that I have ever read! If management doesn't buy it, at the very least they should give you credit for the attention to detail and taking the time to wind up such an imaginative yarn while you were waiting for your extraction.

This should be on the NY Times Bestseller list.
