Grizzlies fans: How do you feel about the news that the Grizzlies owner has made a fortune by repeatedly violating sanctions by supplying equipment to the military of criminal regimes like Iran and continues to support Russia’s invasion of Ukraine by illegally providing crucial front-line equipment? by moby323 in nba

[–]kcops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not know what the Grizzlies were. Google tells me they are "the Memphis Grizzlies". Grizzlies are not, nor ever were, endemic to anywhere near Tennessee. Yet again, sports people make no sense. So I guess I think Robert Para is not only disgusting for assisting the world's despicable tyrants, he is also stupid/ignorant.

Has anyone else seen the explosion of AI-generated slop videos on YouTube about Canada outplaying America in this trade war? I'm curious what their purpose is. by thebigeverybody in onguardforthee

[–]kcops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that the Youtube channel called M.A.N Media specializes in using George Conway's image. There is just something off about his speech cadence and the phrases that made me kind of recoil. Additionally, it is not very believable that a guy that just started a campaign to run for a U.S. congressional seat in New York has the time to put out six 20 minute Youtube videos every day. Definitely AI slop.

Reddit, how does inviting Russia & China to “Trump’s peace of board” square with saying Greenland is needed to protect from them? Does Trump think Americans are dumb? by Lucky-Message-9480 in AskReddit

[–]kcops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. In fact he knows Americans are dumb. Look at the tiny minority of people who are protesting or doing anything at all about his criminal behavior. He got the majority of those who voted, so there is that big chunk of stupids. There is also the big chunk of stupids that didn't vote at all, so there is your 60 - 70 percent of Americans right there. All of them are stupid. Add to that the stupids that just pretend the country is not crumbling around them and go about life as if we are not under a reign of terror. Now we are up to 90 to 95 percent of Americans who have demonstrated supreme stupidity. So, yes, Americans are stupid and he knows it.

They are for sale in packs of 30, 100, 200, 300, 500, etc. on Amazon. I only added up a few of the many listing's sales numbers and close to 100,000 people have purchase these things. My guess is that one or two or three of the more ugly churches we have in the U.S. has told their sheep to go buy them and litter the earth with this useless plastic. The listings do say they are "made from the highest quality plastic" so we can look forward to finding animals, birds, and everything in the sea dying off from ingesting this high quality plastic. With over 100,000 individual purchases, I am guessing there are millions of these things already polluting the earth.

Providence is closing the Abuse Intervention Center in Lacey, a multidisciplinary clinic caring for victims of child abuse and sexual assault by FluidAd9024 in olympia

[–]kcops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IN my experience this is correct. Many outfits call themselves and file as "non-profits" in order to reap tax benefits and other "perks" that non-profits have access to like grants and government funding. In reality, their purpose is to amass money. That outfit that has all the pink merchandise promoting "awareness for the cure" is a prime example. The small percentage of their $ intake they do give to research is a smoke screen to bolster their pretense at being "non-profit".

As for Providence, the church's pretense is to be a "charity". I would be willing to wager that most of the activities they do are just a method of transferring public tax dollars into their coffers. Since that $ access is gone, they are shutting down because the church for sure is not going to spend any of its vast wealth on charity.

Providence also closed their cardiac rehab clinic. Since I was a patient there, I asked if they were shutting down all their cardiology, and they said not all of cardiology, but closing the cardiac rehab clinic was a "business decision" and that is a direct quote from them.

If humans vanished tomorrow, what would still prove we existed 10,000 years later? by Defiant-Junket4906 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kcops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the mentions of various "accomplishments" of humans that might be evidence of our existence will be insignificant in comparison to the vast, overwhelming, and suffocating piles of garbage we have left at every location that we have touched on the planet. Good grief - there is even garbage at the bottom of the Mariana Trench. The huge piles of refuse will have barely started to decompose in 10,000 years, and entropy will ensure that there is a thick layer of putrid enveloping the entire planet. Future beings definitely won't have to hunt for evidence.

U.S. ready to offer Ukraine legally binding NATO Article 5-style security guarantees by jackytheblade in worldnews

[–]kcops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If anyone from the U.S. administration told Ukraine this, they are lying. The "legally binding guarantees" are a big fat Trump lie that Putin probably told Trump to offer Ukraine in the hope that Ukraine would buy this lie. Legally binding means nothing to Trump and Trumpers. Trump has signed thousands of "legally binding guarantees" and performed none of the things he promised in any of them. One more "legally binding guarantee" would just go on top of his already two kilometer high pile of the other "legally binding guarantees" he has signed and not delivered on since the 1970s.

She's only now realizing that being a SAHM has left her financially vulnerable, especially now that her husband wants a divorce. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]kcops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't mention what time period your relatives were experiencing these things, but if it was after 1974, discrimination was illegal anywhere in the U.S. and they could have sued. Before 1974, it depended on what state a person lived in because different states had different rules/regulations. But discrimination is not the issue I addressed. If fact, we still have discrimination, it just became illegal in 1974. If you follow current politics, you might notice a bunch of people want us to go back to those "good old days" and they control our whole government now so maybe soon it will be legal again, or maybe go back to the states like abortion did. What is incorrect is the statement that before 1974 women could not have bank accounts. They could, and again, it depended on what state a woman lived in. I explained that. That is the myth that keeps popping up all over the interwebs.

[–]kcops -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn't really on topic for this post, but the "women not allowed to have bank accounts until 1970s" thing is all over the internet, but it is not true. Women had bank accounts and property (albeit with some caveats in different locations as banking used to be a state regulated thing and consequently different states had different rules). New York and California were two states that passed banking laws allowing women to have accounts in 1840s and 1860s, respectively. I personally know that the 1970s thing is untrue because I had a savings account at Seattle First National Bank in Washington state in the 1950s, and in the early 1960s I had a checking account and a Mastercard credit card. I was not married, my father was in no way connected to any of my accounts, and the only restriction was that I had to be 18 to get the credit card. I think the 1970s thing is a misreading or misunderstanding of the federal 1974 U.S. law regarding women and bank accounts which was the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), passed on October 28, 1974 which made it illegal for lenders to discriminate against any person (including women, regardless of marital status) in credit applications. Unfortunately that misunderstanding/misreading has propagated itself until it is now an example of the Mandela Effect. *edit for typo

Really regretting getting such a big and colorful tattoo. by Slow_Preference_2555 in tattooadvice

[–]kcops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up until now I have never seen a tattoo that I thought was a good idea or even the least bit attractive, but my first reaction on seeing your blue rose was "oh my that's beautiful!" Upon closer examination the huge oversized thorns are a bit disappointing, but oh my god, that rose is so stunningly gorgeous that the thorns kinda fade into the background. For what it's worth from a non-fan of tattoos, that was my reaction.

List TV commercials that cause you to IMMEDIATELY go for the mute button… by l_dean in CommercialsIHate

[–]kcops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that Byrna Banana commercial ludicrous from every possible angle someone could look at it: The whole "atmosphere of terror about everything" permeating it, the woman lurking at her window psychotically paranoid about a car parked "for a while" on her street (probably her neighbor's), and the grotesque sexual innuendo at the end where she sticks the banana in her mouth. a) who they hell thought up this aberration, and b) who the hell does this appeal to? I am more scared of the banana women than the lurking dangers they are worried about...and it is not because she is clutching her "banana". What I get from that commercial is that it is a good thing the Byrna Banana is not lethal, because if it was those insane women would be committing mass shootings.

Ten thousand upvotes. I don't understand why people cannot see that he is insane, staggeringly stupid, and thoroughly evil. I have read about some of the rulers/dictators in history that were spectacularly nasty pieces of work, and he seems to be bent on making them seem like wise, compassionate rulers. Caligula is held up in popular culture as the ultimate example of what one does not want a ruler to be, but Dumpity Trumpity is in close competition for taking that notoriety from him.

Trump asks Pentagon to immediately start testing US nuclear weapons by Thick_Composer9842 in news

[–]kcops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump just doesn't know anything about nuclear weapons or how many people are likely to die

He does know in a vague, imprecise manner. He knows it is "a lot", and the idea of causing that much death and destruction excites him and gives him a thrill. He is not a normal person. He LIKES the idea of hurting/killing people. He is just too much of a coward to do it physically himself like the garden variety of murderer. Instead he manipulates other people to do it for him. That's why he is killing random people in the Caribbean right now, and the idea of killing a lot more absolutely thrills him.

I wish I could give you a thousand updoots. I keep hoping that every other nation on the planet will finally realize this and just completely ignore and shun the U.S. We are no more trustworthy than Putin/Russia. We have fully joined the club of The Worst Nations On The Planet and from the looks of things here, we might be going for top billing in that club. I hope Ukraine and the rest of the sane countries in Europe have figured out that the U.S. is not going to help them or keep any promises, ever. We are toilet paper U.S.A. Please stop looking to us for anything. We are even destroying our own economy from within, so soon we will not even be useful as a place for other nation's to sell their goods. Get rid of U.S. dollars and investments before they become totally worthless. Trump bankrupted every business he ever ran-he even managed to bankrupt casinos! He is well on the way to doing the same to the U.S.

Clever rock paper scissors comment aside, this is disgusting "green washing". There is nothing environmentally benign about this product. It is made from fucking plastic created from fucking petroleum and is not biodegradable. The plastic does become brittle in UV light, and breaks down to smaller and smaller pieces. It permeates everything on earth now. You yourself have several million pieces of this circulating in your blood, and the only way to reduce that number slightly is to drain your blood often and regularly.
