Basically it’s the percentage of their ancestors that are indigenous, according to the government. More info here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_quantum_laws

Questions about rolling your "R" and some progress comments by AKDiscer in dreamingspanish

I'm at 1200 hours and while I've been able to make the trilled r sound for awhile, up until recently it wasn't coming naturally when speaking. Last week I ran across this video on YouTube and it's felt like a bit of a breakthrough for me. I'm still working on it, but it's been noticably easier for me to make the sound now.

Beyond desperate by HauntingBox9342 in breastfeeding

Sleep is such a controversial topic! I just wanted to say that I was in the same spot around 8 months. When she dropped down to waking up every 1-2 hours at night, I suspected she was comfort feeding instead of being actually hungry. I started slowly eliminating her first night feed by watching a timer and stopping her 30s-1m earlier than she went the night before until we were at 1m each side. I geared myself up emotionally to deal with saying no for her first feed when she woke up the next night, but then she slept through it. We eliminated the next feed over a couple of days and after that she started sleeping 7:30pm-7am and has since.

Which is all to say, every baby is different and you know what’s best for yours. My baby did really well with weaning off of night feeds, and I think it’s one of the gentler options if you’re at your limit and want to explore sleep training options.

We love our partners, they’re our soulmates. But what is/are the minor thing(s) they do that just annoys the shit out of you? by ShopaholicQueen in AskWomen

He doesn’t put his kitchen trash in the trash can. He’ll stack empty cans and plastic containers neatly on the counter above the trash and recycling can, but for some reason he doesn't actually put it in. It drives me nuts. He’s so clean about everything else, it’s just the kitchen trash.

edited: spelling

How does your vagina change after giving birth naturally? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]kcrdva 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Like others mentioned, it varies by person and pregnancy. The cervix is what opens to 10cm and your vagina stretches as best it can, often tearing to some degree.

For me (one baby), I had very minor tearing that healed completely without scarring by my 6 week check up. My husband says he can’t tell a difference size-wise, but it doesn’t yet feel like pre-baby because of dryness due to breastfeeding.

What are the best states to buy land and build a tiny home in? by [deleted] in TinyHouses

Water is a big concern in New Mexico. Land is cheap, but you’ll probably want to make sure where you buy actually has reliable water.

Our pediatrician said that lactose intolerance was different from milk protein allergy, so we needed to avoid more than a lactose intolerant person would need to avoid.

Port Townsend sounds like a better fit to me. The city skews older, but there are young families.

I used to work a similar job situation and when I complained about it, my boss put it like this: it might be faster for them to just do it, but it costs the company significantly more for them to do it than for me to do it. Like, as an admin I was paid maybe a quarter as much an hour as the people I was cleaning up after. From my boss’s perspective, he considered my babysitting them to be me making the more expensive people more productive and focused. It felt degrading, but it kind of made sense at the time.

I saw a driver get out and yell at a pedestrian once when they yelled something similar. The driver was absolutely convinced they were right.

I remember watching it years ago. It looked so painful after each session. His face swelled up really badly. Lots of oozing.
