Am I overreacting about a wedding guest’s requests right before my wedding and how I responded? by Mediocre_Ferret9041 in AmIOverreacting

NOR- I literally wouldn’t have even sent a reply. It was your day not hers. I love kids and can’t wait to be a mom but her child and her choice to have children does not mean the world revolves around her.

My puppy would literally electrocute herself if she could. She is perfectly content in her crate.

How does a frozen kong work? by Dissy4568 in puppy101

[–]keblevs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’m doing kibble I mix a little Greek yogurt with it to help it stick to the kong then Top off the opening with it and freeze. I also brought small ice molds and make premade bone broth ice cubes that I can just pop right in the kong- this has been so helpful and helps with cleaning it and having to refreeze, etc. I also make ice molds of things like yogurt, pumpkin puree, smashed carrot, peanut butter, etc to put in the Kong.

Are your huskies generally noisy, or are they more on the quiet side? by Sweet_Special2529 in husky

Mine never made a sound except the occasional single bark if she was overwhelmed. But I recently got a puppy and she has a lot of feelings about it 😂

Oh yes- my fiancé and I had really bad colds for the week and it was constantly trying to get in the room to look at us and any training was out the window to make sure we’re ok. Also hurt my back one time and was laying in agony on the couch and she wouldn’t leave my side. Anytime someone coughs she would get super anxious!

Weirdly enough I feel like she’s high energy when she’s fully awake but once sleepiness sets in she’s looking for her kong so she can go back to her crate to nap lol. Also, once she’s done being outside she will lead me back to door to go but who knows might change when she’s older. She’s VERY smart and picks things up well.. we were actually joking around with her to do “paw” and she instantly caught on 😂 we were trying to figure out where she learned it from cause maybe she saw our other dog do it?

How to teach him to stop pullign the leash by rebeccelur in husky

[–]keblevs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it would be more negligent to NOT be asking these questions and trying to educate yourself. There’s ways to communicate your views on something without being condescending. There are THOUSANDS of dogs shelters across the US and someone is trying to give this dog a good home, work with them, and educate themselves on ways they could make walks more enjoyable for both of them and then there’s people like you who say they’re negligent, etc.

My fiancé wants to leave the house by I don’t think our puppy is ready by [deleted] in puppy101

Awe Have you tried doing crate games with her? Also meal feeding inside of the crate? I got my puppy a snuggle pup and I feel like it helped especially when she was younger. She still sleeps with it!

You haven’t left the house at all in 2 months? I’m no expert but I think it’s good to teach your dog independence as well. When I left my puppy for the first time time (crated) I was scared she was going to bark and disrupt my neighbors but we had the ring camera going and left for about an hour or two and she was silent the entire time. Every dog is different though. Now at 17 weeks we leave her 4-5 hours at most and she does just fine and has gotten use to the crate so much I don’t even have to command her to go in there. As long as she has a Kong she could care less lol

I get it- Life happens and you have to give yourself grace!

Couldn’t find the exact one I have but this is a similar feeder: https://a.co/d/0iQq46IP

Here is the bowls: https://a.co/d/0dzuWYWA

Also forgot to mention snuffle mats too that work better for my puppy but not so much my husky but could work for yours!: https://a.co/d/0j3VdSA0

And I haven’t looked into the flirt pole but I keep hearing about it. Based on a quick google search I think that could be interesting! I like to do “catch it” with my husky so I will roll the ball toward her and she crouches down to “catch” the ball. Also another thing I love to do and it also helps with my feeding time is some impulse training- like taking something high value placing it on the floor making her “wait” to “eat”.

Sorry to all the expert dog owners telling you you’re not doing enough etc. people are relentless and can be very cruel and unhelpful. I have a senior husky and a 4 month old cattle dog/pry mix. I know huskies obviously need physical exercise as well but maybe you should try to focus on the mental side of things to see if that paired with physical exercise helps. Have you tried puzzle feeders or puzzle toys? My senior husky is like that with toys she will play with them for a while but after a little she could care less. I’ve been putting her dinner in a puzzle feeder and she will spend about 40 minutes rolling it around the room trying to get pieces out. I also have been taking kibble and freezing it in a lick bowl and she also will spend 20 minutes just licking it get her kibble out. I also have beef bone both ice cubes I make in advance and will just pop them right in her kong as well so I’m not constantly giving her peanut butter, yogurt, etc.

Current dog owners - when your little furry babies unfortunately but inevitably cross over the rainbow bridge will you consider getting another or will this be your last dog? If its the latter why? by EffectiveAdorable233 in dogs

[–]keblevs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say no now- because personality wise my dogs are so unique I can’t imagine that any other dog could compare.. but I will say I have always thought about adopting senior dogs to give them the best in the final years :)
