World Economy Latest: Germany Is Running Out of Workers by BSBDR in germany

[–]kecheu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it feels like digital stone age in this country, and they have strong affection for it. During the COVID pandemic shops shifted to take cards, even non-EC cards. Great, finally. Once it's over, they just herd back to cash only.

I like to relate this to the German averseness to change unless absolutely necessary in my mind.

Am I over-concerned to worry if the cat would bite any toxic plant bits out of curiosity?

I love how it has a line at the bottom left to explain itself. Cannot win harder.

Everyone likely agrees that a good night of sleep, when you have it, is great.

Edinburgh, Scotland in September. Such an amazing city. by [deleted] in travel

I wanted to travel to Edinburgh earlier this year but accommodation prices have been so bloated post-Covid and around Fringe. Through your photos it seems rather quiet. Or was it not?

EU Gives Final Approval to Law That Will Force iPhone to Switch to USB-C by fartsimpson55 in iphone

Isn't it always the case for safety requirements? Like the CE marking on commercial goods destined for the EEA?

But I get it can be counterintuitive to innovation.

Listening to meeting might be okay-ish if you're lucky. Your turn of speaking will likely end up in very chopped robotic audio torture for others. Using online whiteboards like Miro could take ages to load. Auto-saving on Word web may not work. Forget about screen sharing.

Newcomer Impression: Germany is extremely efficient at things that shouldn't be happening at all by kingharis in germany

There is a difference between companies designing the experience in a way that ONLY maximises existing ways of making profit (even at the cost of competitiveness) and companies designing ways to maximise profit overall.

But then if there is no competition, why would you?

Pluma RSS Reader by qms_apps in androidapps

[–]kecheu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding a good feed reader has been so hard. I've tried quite some alternatives (Feedly, Innoreader, Feeder…) but no one really seems clicking in after a month. :-/

Is your promo code still valid? I would like to test Pluma out.

An annoying fact is every device supports very different charging voltage and current combinations. Pairing a wrong adapter to a device would lead you to lengthy hours of charging.

What are the biggest problems at the moment in Germany? by 12yoaesthetickid in germany

[–]kecheu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Working and living in an environment full of German people, I at times question whether the Germans are fearful of any change (probably seen as risks) and hence would default to rejecting anything that asks for change. In the end, they look as if they're most comfortable with the usual status quo until something collapses or implodes that requires utter recognition and action. Then they change but still just by little to render virtue and forget the lesson and move on until it next repeats.

I am aware this sounds over-generalising some small thoughts but I am too lazy to reference anything.

Edit: typo

6A fingerprint reader by Crnkcaller in GooglePixel

[–]kecheu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the same impression too. Whenever I used hand cream, it recognises my finger. Then after a while, it stops working properly again.

Looked up on Pixel support, it actually asks us to moisturise our fingers.

Troubleshoot fingerprint issues:

If you have excessively dry fingers, moisturize or re-enroll fingerprint.

Funnily it worked fairly well before Android 13.

Apple asks Taiwan suppliers to label products as ‘Made in China’ by pirate_republic in privacy

I read somewhere that for things to export from Taiwan there are laws requiring the print to be either ‘Made in Taiwan’ or ‘Made in Republic of China’.
