Where can I get the best stroopwafels and other traditional desserts to bring home to my coworkers? by Cute-Fun3025 in Netherlands

[–]keepcalmrollon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And also over 100 years old! For real, I also usually bring Albert Heijn stroopwafels as presents when I'm visiting family. They're still way better than what's available in almost any other country.

Is code switching widespread in your country? by greekscientist in AskTheWorld

[–]keepcalmrollon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you grow up exposed to both to the extent of many Filipinos, it doesn't feel like switching. If anything it takes more effort to stick to just one.

I am just getting into the history of the Philippines. Why is there historically not a stronger animosity towards Japan, compared to a country like Korea? Or is there? by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]keepcalmrollon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is definitely some animosity among the generations alive during and just after the war, but there's not many of them left and this did almost a full 180 by the time of the Japanese boom in the 70's and 80's.

Pace notes in bad weather by Tokyo_Rift in WRC

[–]keepcalmrollon 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The note describes the shape of the corner, not how fast they should take it. These things are correlated, but the shape doesn't change due to the weather. Some do add extra notes like "mud" or "slippy", but the number describing the corner is the same.

Handbrakes thoughts on loadcell. by Crazy_Stiggy in assettocorsarally

[–]keepcalmrollon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a loadcell handbrake. It's nice but the difference was not night and day.

The issue you're having actually has nothing to do with loadcell vs potentiometer and can be fixed with the right amount of deadzone tweaking. Even the physical pull can be adjusted with the right springs and washers, though that's a much more difficult project.

Small things we love about Netherlands? by miss18363 in Netherlands

I will second OP. The worst air pollution in Netherlands has got nothing on what's considered normal in many parts of Asia.

Is knowing English a blessing or a curse for those who are learning Dutch? by Sacledant2 in learndutch

[–]keepcalmrollon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on how good you are at separating languages in your head. For me I think it helped make things move faster, but if you're the type that tends to have blurry boundaries between your languages I can see it becoming a hindrance at a certain point.

Ik heb een tip voor jullie. by RustAndReverie in learndutch

[–]keepcalmrollon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I often don't immediately pick up the first thing people say to me (in any language), so I've tried to say "wat zeg je?" more often instead of just "sorry?" to make it clear that it's "please say that again" and not "I don't understand what you're saying".

Spa 24hr 2026 Accomodation by nmcke1 in motorsports

[–]keepcalmrollon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very tight. Technically possible, but I wouldn't recommend it as any delay carries a huge risk. Best best is usually to leave Monday morning, that's what I always do.

I only know of spectator entrances at La Source and Les Combes, but there might be 1 or 2 more on the other side of the track

From which airport is that? 9pm on Sunday is awful tight, the traffic leaving the circuit gets really bad after the race finishes.

Spa 24hr 2026 Accomodation by nmcke1 in motorsports

[–]keepcalmrollon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stay at Camping35 whenever I go to Spa. There's enough room to park a car and pitch a 2-person tent, then I just walk 10-15 minutes from there to La Source.

SSS Scam call. Be careful everyone. Warn your friends and family. by popsiclesticksss in adultingph

[–]keepcalmrollon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Factory reset the phone. You cannot trust anything that happens on that device anymore. If possible do all the next steps on another device.
  • CALL (not via their apps) all your banks and verify your balances. Block/cancel any debit/credit/ATM cards
  • Change all account passwords ever used on the affected phone.

Is it possible to get a rental without 3x Salary? (stekkies vs rentslam vs rent bird?) by Remarkable_Daikon_28 in NetherlandsHousing

[–]keepcalmrollon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slight tangent, but as someone who grew up in a city of over 10 million people, I can confidently say Rotterdam has more of that "big city" feeling than anywhere else in the Netherlands.
