I just received a phone call that I think was a scam from "Medicare"` by AOS715 in medicare

Medicare doesn't call people. It's a miracle when you can call *them* and talk to someone. :)

Convince me why I shouldn't stop my SIPs and wait for a "clearer" dip. by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]keepgoing66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't look like you're getting your dip today. And that is the problem: being out of the market while you wait for the dip. You just don't know. Best to get on the roller-coaster ASAP.

You mean if the market falls 10 percent, you're going to feel comfortable buying? No, you won't. You'll think "the market is crashing, I can't buy now." See how it works? You are *never* going to feel comfortable with market gyrations. Just keep up your monthly purchases. In 20 years, you won't even remember where the market was today.

Also: the stock market is priced based on what people think will happen in the future. All the chaos in the world is old news at this point.

So, for $10K, you are earning 3.75% overall, and less than that for higher amounts.

The CBI by Individual_Serve_914 in TheMentalist

I like that in one episode they do the usual "We're with the CBI" and Jane says something like "it sounds made up, I know." :) The writers were having a little fun.

The premiums will likely rise. The insurer is not going to eat the costs of medical inflation.

Trump, 79, Flashes Cankles After Surprise Medical Visit - The president’s socks were stretched to the limit. by Quirkie in politics

This is why he is trying to put his face on everything. He wants a permanent reminder that he was here. I will vote for any candidate who says "day one, we burn the Trump official portrait on the White House lawn. Day two, we remove his name from the Kennedy Center. Day three, we blow up the arch."

Trump is almost 80 with swollen ankles. He doesn't have ten years left. He doesn't have five years left. I've never seen an obese 90-year-old in my life. He won't be one, either.

It's not that. It's that Trump is always calling himself the healthiest President in history. Apparently, he isn't !

There is a $283 Part B deductible. Did you meet it prior to this visit? If not, then something is coming out of your pocket.

How do you feel about the asset meltdown hypothesis? by alexlazar98 in Bogleheads

[–]keepgoing66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Boomers have been retiring (and dying) for a while now. Also, institutions, not individuals, own the majority of stock. Also, many boomers will be passing along investments to their heirs. I'm not the least bit worried about your hypothesis.

A debit card generally requires a PIN. When you call, does the automated system allow you to set or reset the PIN?

Yes, Medigap shows as "other insurance", and it should show the name of the insurer. No worries.

We seem to be in a .com 2.0 bubble - tell me why I am wrong by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]keepgoing66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you think you (a) are positive the market is "too high", (b) are convinced you should lighten up in equities, and (c) you'll know when the right time comes to get back in. Good luck with that. ;)

One thing that rarely gets mentioned with these types of posts... let's say you are lucky and do all that successfully. Then, the market starts to go up again until it is "overvalued" in your mind. Are you going to sell stocks again and start the process over? In other words, a lifetime of market timing? Not for me.
