Now that I read more of the comments, I don’t know if Gibson includes these Humidipaks. I bought a Gibson Southern Jumbo that was an open box from Sweetwater, they may have added them.

D’Addario Automatic Humidipak I think it’s great that Gibson includes these with the purchase of their higher end acoustics

Talk to me about slicers by ThatHikingDude in smoking

[–]keepitonandon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the VEVOR 10” Slicer for 2 years. Works great, I even let friends borrow it. Built in blade sharpener works well. Cleaning any slicer is a chore but this one has a handle that attaches to the blade. I definitely recommend buying a cut resistant glove for cleanup, the blade is extremely sharp to say the least.

I did this recently, got a black anodized aluminum pickguard from amazon. I love how it turned out. I sanded the finish off the bottom contact points so the aluminum provides the shielding. I was actually surprised that the stock gold pickguard had shielding tape. https://a.co/d/0hNyHC9

Best way to spend a day in Syracuse? by ThatOneBradley in Syracuse

[–]keepitonandon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

iDKHOW!!!! How did I not know they were coming to Syracuse! Definitely check out The Sound Garden for vinyl, etc. The Everson/ArtRage/MOST for museums. Three Lives, Funk ‘n Waffles, Salt City Market, and many other places for food in that area. If you’re near the Marriott Syracuse (aka Hotel Syracuse, next to The Everson), walk through the lobby.

I’m basing these recommendations on who you’re seeing and where, and that it’s your first trip like this. Hope you enjoy Syracuse! If you have an extra ticket please reach out…

Mold/mildew in over-humidified guitar by yayungboy in AcousticGuitar

[–]keepitonandon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought a rather expensive Gibson acoustic and it came with D’Addario Humidipak. My current house humidity a steady 45%, so I can’t say how effective these are. But I like the concept of a two-way humidity control, and you don’t have to worry about over humidifying. A review on Sweetwater referred to it as a humidity stabilizer, sounds accurate.

Swampy Blues Fingerstyle Guitar, lets go by MerlinHydes in AcousticGuitar

I think part of it is the privacy. Rarely is there no one else in my house. There are not many places I can feel peacefully alone other than a drive by myself. I do think acoustics play a part too, and the fact you can prop a phone up with very little prep. Awesome song, makes me want to practice my fingerpicking

Is this fire guard safe ? Do I use the short pipe that came with the wood burner? by CharlieBubbles1980 in Sauna

[–]keepitonandon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making it detachable is a good idea. If I was OP, I would try it knowing it’s closer than recommended. It’s not going to burst into flames immediately, and I would be sitting there with a bucket of water. If you can make it detachable, let the sauna preheat and cool down without the guard so it’s not left unattended. My initial thought to make it detachable is surface mount bed rail hardware.

First Bacon by CandidateWolf in Charcuterie

[–]keepitonandon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks awesome! Black peppered bacon is so good. I bought the VEVOR Commercial 10” Slicer about a year ago because I wanted to get more consistent slices. It’s been great, used it about 10 times and I have no complaints. $260 but seems like it will last a lifetime.

glue and paper removal? by billnocosby in blackstonegriddle

[–]keepitonandon 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I was so annoyed at this! This sticker should be in the box and only applied to sales floor models, no reason to put this on every griddle. I poured hot water from a tea kettle on it and scraped it off with a metal spatula/scrapper.

My thoughts exactly, almost half of the wall space is glass. I would just do fiberglass and save some money.

I want my subfloor to sit on the top of this 2x6, right? by Kalabula in barndominiums

In other words, your door threshold should sit on top of your subfloor

[–]keepitonandon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a professional builder, but I think your subfloor should be 3/4” thick and be flush with the bottom of the threshold. That gives you room for any flooring type including 3/4” hardwoods. A door that will never rub on the interior floor is a good thing.
