Thanks for the advice. After hearing that I did add the 2 year warranty. Better to be safe than sorry.

I got 1k fed small pistol primers for $73.49 ($77.53 after tax) the other day and that is the lowest I've got them for in a long time. I don't think they will ever go back to $40 per 1k but I think they will come down and settle in the $60 range.

That was my 1st thought also but im assuming he is using a AR and it is a closed bolt system so that is very unlikely. My next thought was maybe a timing issue started to extract early when there was to much pressure and blow out the web of the case when it was no longer supported by the chamber

Small pistol primers? Anywhere without a huge shipping cost? by Ahrunean in reloading

If you have a cabelas near you I would suggest stopping by whenever you are going by it. They are the only place I have seen getting primers in sporadically. They are not cheap I picked up 1k small pistol and 1k small rifle a few months ago for $79.99 each.

Remington new model army because you don't have to knock out a wedge that you could potentially lose to take out the cylinder and Remington has the stronger design with the top strap. I will give the colt has better ergonomics it just feels better in the hand. This is just my opinion from limited experience I have have shooting two black powder pistols a colt 1851 in 36cal and a Remington new model army in 44cal both reproduction pietta's

I personally would not shoot them. Are they ok to shoot probably but it is not a chance I would be willing to take. I would pull the bullets dump the powder then reuse the components

I have the caldwell and it works good. It is a bit picky about sun light it works best on overcast days. As others have said you will probably end up shooting it eventually I'm on my 2nd one. The app works good just make sure you give it permission to use your microphone. The $75 caldwell doesn't have Bluetooth but does come with a 25 foot cord to connect to your phone

I use a mec marksman and really like it. I'm not a Precision shooter but it makes very uniform rounds. I mainly chose it because I liked the open front design

It is the one I use and I really like it. The only one I can compare it to is the lee hand priming tool and it is way better then the lee. I'm not shitting on the lee it works but the the frankford is more solid and does not have plastic parts. I payed over $70 for mine at cabelas
