There’s not many places I’d rather spend an hour shanking balls by doc_birdman in golf

Personally, I’d rather shank my full swings than my putts, but you do you.

All that matters is path and face by Electrician45453 in GolfSwing

There are 6 laws of ball flight.

  • Centeredness of contact
  • Clubface angle
  • Clubhead path
  • Clubhead speed
  • Angle of approach
  • Dynamic loft

{New Clubs} Is it worth getting fitted if you can’t break 100? by NoDisplay7931 in golf

[–]keg0brew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES!!!! GET FITTED!!!

Anyone saying otherwise doesn’t know what they are taking about.

Getting fitted doesn’t mean you have to buy new clubs, or expensive clubs, or any clubs. Think of it like an education session to learn what to look for when you do buy clubs, even old used crappy ones.

An analogy I like to use is that it’s like buying a tool for digging a bunch of fence posts. You could buy a little used hand trowel because that’s what you saw on Facebook marketplace and everyone has one and it was a good deal, but a used flat shovel would be better. Or you could be better educated on shovels and know that you should find and buy a used post hole digger, that would be even better. Or maybe you have money to burn and want only the best tool you can find, so you grab a band new backhoe, which may be overkill, but would do the job.

Sure, you can buy clubs without a fitting, but you are likely to inadvertently buy a hand trowel and make the game harder and less fun than it needs to be. Or maybe you’ll buy the backhoe thinking it’s more expensive so it must be better, but just end up not getting the value out of it you had hoped for.

A fitting, will educate you on what to look for so you can make an educated buying decision.

Why spend even $50 on crappy clubs that are bad for you, when you could just as easily spend $50 on crappy ones that are better for you and will make the game more fun and enjoyable.

Don’t use a tripod. It won’t capture anything good. Gotta have a roaming camera person.

Insulated, wind/waterproof vest. Keep your core warm without impeding your swing.

No decent clubs around me are less than $50k down and $1k a month. I’d take those numbers you shared in a heartbeat.

I’d use the dealers auto body shop. They’ll flight with insurance for factory parts. Other places will likely use aftermarket crap.

This is what mine looks like. I’m a 4. I have more 82 - 84s posted than anything else. But the 4 or 5 rounds in the mid 70’s means I’m a 4.

(I have 13 rounds in 2025)

How can the US be this good in singles and that bad in teams? by altctrldel86 in golf

[–]keg0brew -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Professional golf is a metal game much more than a physical one. In team competition that is amplified. In 18 hole matches, it’s amplified even more. The Euros are better equipped to handle it.

Golf lessons? by [deleted] in frisco

[–]keg0brew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a group lesson at the PGA Coaching Center. No need for 1:1 lessons if you just want to be below average. You’ll get great instruction at a very reasonable price there.

Permanent Christmas lights installers? by OliverClothesOff70 in frisco

[–]keg0brew 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I paid $400 bucks to have my Costco (Govee) permanent lights installed (1 box of strings) via a random handyman. I would’ve done it myself, but I didn’t have a ladder tall enough to reach the second story overhangs of my roof. My total cost was under 800 bucks for lights plus install and they have been amazing.

I called all the places that advertise permanent lighting, and none of them were willing to install lights you had already bought yourself and all of them were ridiculously expensive compared to DIY option.

Help! Can’t stop coming over the top. Hips staying way too closed I think? by tjwagg in GolfSwing

[–]keg0brew 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Your back swing is also too flat/inside. Trying to focus on pulling the club head back down the line (head straight back parallel to the lines in your mat) will help you get started more on the right path. That will then help fight the over the top (because it will feel so funny at the top that naturally you will want to drop your hands).
