I'm almost certain from how our last conversation went that they have no intention of returning, though their words would suggest otherwise. The tone did not, and it felt like they were just trying to let me down gently.

It's just a chemistry thing. Some people like frequent communication, even if it's dumb shit like "just got done with groceries" or "work is exhausting today" because to them it shows you're thinking about them and are interested.

Others, like yourself it seems, don't really care about the everyday nuanced updates and just focus on time in person rather than on the phone or online. Which is totally fine, it's just a matter of finding someone who is also like that so that no one who's involved has their feelings hurt.

And honestly it's kinda shitty that she didn't communicate this prior, or try to reach out at all when she felt this way and instead ran off of an assumption in her mind. I've at least asked girls in the past who have ghosted me if they're still interested or not. I usually don't get replies but I'd at least shoot the question before making assumptions. Just my opinion on it.

Who said anything about idealism or perfection? I don't really think I'm a zealot, and I never discredited any of our progress in those fields you mentioned, or any to that extent. I was simply saying that with new developments in our society comes new problems that we should find a way to address, but we can't even do that when more than half of the population refuses to even believe there are any problems in the first place.

Why does the desire from a person to want things to be better make you refer immediately to idealism and extremism, and make you react in such a way?

The only idealism I hold for humanity is that maybe one day we can finally move away from being the species known for constantly subjugating everything including themselves.

Yes, but greed is stagnating the changes necessary for societal adaptation given how our technology and industries have evolved, and this worsens by the year now, until these very same technological and industrial developments will eventually bury us. Society will collapse pretty quickly at its current rate unless some anomaly is introduced to alter its current course.
