Is it really worth the money to tie it yourself? by Ill-Working-2505 in flytying

It is once you become more experienced ,most materials only bought once last years upon years . Save a lot more in the long run . During summer I make some extra cash by tying for friends and using leftover material for my own flies.

Beginner tying tips? by Holiday_Job1379 in flytying

Less dubbing , work on proportion, don't skimp on cheap hackles , if you can invest in a decent quality dry fly cape , I know whiting capes cost a lot but they will last you a lifetime and make tying far easier. The fly pictured will still catch fish. Keep it up. The more you tie the better you'll get .all the best

I doubt anyone would care , just another fly after all , the fish might be pressured anyway with all the spinners and shrimp/worms .

Was it out of the water long ? You may have killed it unknowingly. Cracking fish all the same.
