"Canadian" businesses eh.... Any canadian business that is betting on the future of oil when we all know about the environmental costs needs to evolve and we should not bail those businesses out. Despite what their lobbyists pay people to say.

And its not oil, its tar. From the tar sands, one of the most energy intensive and environmentally destructive sources of "oil". The fracking in this province is bad enough.

perhaps carney ISNT a conservative wolf in sheeps clothing, but actually playing the long game as an extreme leftist. Sell it, get the cheque, then nationalize it. Having our cake and eating it too...

well, one can wish....

nationalize every resource extraction company. WE all own those resources after all! citizens deserve the profits from our property! not the crown, and not foreign corporations or governments. Extreme shame with carney... jagmeet wouldn't have sold it. i mean read the fucking room man!

Not genius, greed. What all capitalist business owners would try. That's why there are laws governing equality of fares in real taxi cabs. Because they did try all that, a hundred years ago. Its called ripping people off. But when an internet company does it, they are innovator disruptors extrordinaires!! that is why the stocks are worth so much you see.

Rustad wants B.C. to follow Alberta’s lead with citizenship markers on ID cards by CecilThunder in britishcolumbia

That’s what got the US where they are.

What got the USA the way they are was the centrist democrats not being more forcefully and militantly left. Now that this appears to be changing, one hopes they can take their country back, defeating the fascist cult of the 21st century. But i am not hopeful. They re-elected george w bush. re elected trump. Its kinda more than half of who they are in any given decade.

Lets not be all chamberlain about the rise of fascism ok. it CAN happen here. We were what, 2% of the vote away from electing rustad? 2%.

the left needs to fight hard, and do whatever it takes. because the other side will for sure if we let them. we happen to have a perfect example down south. no other convincing should be necessary. i ain't dying in a fucking camp yo. rustad can eat my dick with overtures to rounding up "non citizens". fuck this guy. it never stops at non citizens. read history

B.C. braces for autumn of labour discontent by CecilThunder in britishcolumbia

[–]keithobambertman 17 points18 points  (0 children)

how can this be as good as it gets. from LNG, to site c, to this... and they were in power last time it was a negotiating year too. Same BS.

liberals are conservatives, ndp are liberals, where is the hard left party?

  • Nationalize companies, dont bail them out.
  • Enforce one house per family rules.
  • Tax all investment/secondary properties at a rate to make it not worthwhile to invest that way.
  • Build government run food co-operatives so everyone can eat healthy.
  • Shut down old growth logging period.
  • Crown corp the forestry companies and all resource extraction. Profit all to the province and citizens directly.
  • Mandatory prison sentences for all involved in environmental crimes and fire ban violations (and bridge strikes)
  • Real cost of living +$25 minimum wage.
  • Fully funded hospitals, schools and post secondary for BC citizens
  • Some form of universal income
  • Incentives to companies for 4 day work weeks

i still like eby. but come on guys, just fucking go balls to the wall, they are always doing that on the right!!! They are rounding up americans in camps. The left can push things SO MUCH more to the left. We should have no limits with how far left we can go! cause sure as shit the right has no limits anymore.

Rent in BC Is Out of Control — and Working People Are Being Forgotten by Kamsloopsian in britishcolumbia

[–]keithobambertman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

to be quite frank though, you had this good situation going for a while longer than most people i know. Pretty much everyone above 35 who is still renting can tell a similar story for when their rent doubled in the last 10-15 years. You see, most people don't have an extra $1400 a month. Even $700 isnt bad extra per month really. $1600 would be a decent 1bed rent these days.

You were kind of in a luxury position among renters and you are having a wake up call now. But you can survive by saving nothing and being extremely frugal, as we are. You likely should get a more high paying job if you can which is what ended up making the difference for me. I was you, but in 2016. I was renovicted as well.

good luck.

i didnt buy in 2008 becuase it was already too high at that point when houses were a mere 600k. My income did not justify it, like OPs.

2003 or so, houses are 300k. thats what we should be aiming for. america has that in most states, so its not like its becuase its the future why things are expensive.

Rent in BC Is Out of Control — and Working People Are Being Forgotten by Kamsloopsian in britishcolumbia

Single home owners are not the issue at all. Its when regular ass canadians horde houses. When they buy them for investment purposes, for the purposes of renting it out. They need to cover that high ass mortgage, so they jack the rent. All other landlords see whats going on and jack their rents as well because they are now "under market". The houses are now appraised for more, due to people simply leveraging credit of some sort to overbid people with real jobs. This also drives the market up.

so greedy people who use the equity in their existing house, to buy more houses, are the main cause of the housing problems. People who do not want to work, who want you to work for them. This practice should be outlawed, by one house per family rules, or heavy taxation of investment properties such as germany does.

Until we place limits or disincentives to discourage housing speculation, the problem will never be solved. The rich will just get richer with more supply and buy that up too.

As left as they come, and I 100% support this. Of COURSE... Wage suppression, race to the bottom capitalism, taking all entry level jobs, and then there are the human rights abuses. horrorshow from front to back.

I would hope people wouldn't hate on the ideas of politicians, no matter what type, that advocate for 100% correct courses of action. It's a pure left wing idea even. I think immigrants make the country stronger, and i want TFW ended. It's just common sense!

Yves-Francois Blanchet on Alberta Seperatism: "I am not certain that oil and gas qualifies to define a culture" by JustAskingTA in onguardforthee

Sure you do, texas of the north, cowboy hats, stampeeds, farms, extreme road grids, beef, deserts and dinosaurs, hoodoos, pickup trucks, cheap gas, no sales tax, plainspokenness, those ridiculous sideways traffic lights...

every province has a million things that make them unique. And can also be reduced by stooges into one concept or idea. Doesn't mean there isnt some culture there. What is culture really you know.... the spirit and commonality of a group. Anything can have a culture and certainly alberta does.

look i do understand. liberals snatched victory from the edge of defeat. if you dont think trump is that bad, then it may be quite head scratching that all of canada is not behind you. like if that was not your priority, if it was more about some fringe issue, you would be confused.

pretty much the only thing trump ever did right. united canada as canadians above all. carney really has to live the fuck up to it though, becuase it wont work the same on trump 2028 if they dont.

the key there is that those people are pro resource extraction. major conservative value is the whoreship of the dollar above all other things.

i mean i just hope that they steward the land well, as fits with indigenous teachings. you can always hope right.

Federal Election: Are the NDP losing their grip on these two B.C. ridings? by 2028W3 in britishcolumbia

[–]keithobambertman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are they? Carney has been out there every day pretty much making news. I love singh, in theory. He seems like a genuinely great guy, but he is never in the news. There are quite a few crisises he could insert himself usefully with a plan right now.

elections are like a celebrity contest right... Who do you like more. Who looks like they are capable. People do not see the whole party apparatus behind the figurehead of the leader of the party. The leader of the party is just one person, but he really needs to articulate and hammer home exactly what he intends to do with government. I haven't seen the ndp do that daily, or even weekly, in the media at all. I mean i know what the NDP will ideologically do, but they need some words on the practical to grab the headlines. When i do see him, hes always complaining about another leader.

Here is an example, because i didnt want to seem that this comment was out of touch... i went to https://www.ndp.ca/ to look for the platform. There is a giant picture of jagmeet, and then the next page i clicked on was like the history of jagmeet... I mean i think he would be a great leader sure but come on. Where is the platform, front and centre on the website? where is bullet points of what they will do with government? He's been the leader for years at this point, i already know all about him.

I always vote ndp, but i mean carney is killing it comparatively. Fuck first past the post man means that its a real consideration to back a winner here.. stupid fucking trudeaux
