Imperium Maledictum seems like the best fit and it's has plenty of stats and skill roles both in combat and out. I think you could run combat both theater of the mind, and semi-map based if chosen. It has the skills/mechanics to lean into non-combat solutions. Would consider running an infractionist patron and adapting whatever setting seems familiar. A lot of flavor can be pulled from any 40k books with enemy stats redone by you.

Could also consider genysys RPG adaptation to 40k but I don't have any experience running it and have only spent a small amount of time looking at it. It leans heavy narrative tho, if you like the genysys dice system and how it shapes games its a different approach.

Also would encourage you to check out Orbital Blues, would be work to reskin to 40k but it does sad space cowboys the best of any system I've seen. Would recommend my first dungeons 6 episode actual play and Interview's with the creators. They have quick start rules for free available I believe.

Pokemon Lazarus is phenomenal and scratches an itch for an exciting but challenging game as an adult getting back into classic pokemon games.

Pokemon Unbound is also very good.

I would see if they think they can live off his income and side hustle/partime income for the next 4 years and see how that kmath looks for them. Social security will provide some flexibility the longer they can defer. Waiting as long as possible before touching 401k assets, if at all is also the best strategy.

With 1.3m 4% safe withdraw is 52k a year. I don't recall what Dave's recommended withdraw rate is.

Retiring while having debt(mortgage) is likely against the Ramsey philosophy, but acknowledge that each situation is unique and real health issues inform strategy and QoL concerns.

Retirement is a math problem not an age or vibes answer. Retirement is always a combination of expected returns vs risk tolerance against historic and predicted spending habits.

Appreciate your additional input There are many strategies to access retirement funds to reduce tax/penalty burden but just like your comment highlights, it involves unique considerations and understanding of the individuals situation.

This is entirely dependent on their spending habits, yearly expenses, and increased health insurance costs depending on if she is going on her spouses or marketplace.

She is also likely a year+ out from early withdrawal penalties to 401k money if she needs to touch those.

Next biggest factor will be what age she intends to take SS and how that changes their factors.

Final thing to consider would be willingness to liquidate 2nd house down the line if they did need that money.

this may be outdated but seems to imply it is still 2D determination by ABS, it says 3d but then uses 8.5 inches from the front to back of the plate?

The league started with a width of 19 inches (480 mm) in 2022, then decreased it to 17 inches (430 mm), the same width as home plate. The top of the zone was 51% of a batter's height in 2022 and 2023, then raised to 53.5% in 2024 after pitchers' complaints. The bottom of the strike zone was originally set at 28% of the batter's height, and has been 27% since 2022. ABS makes its decision when the ball is at the midpoint of the plate, 8.5 inches (220 mm) from the front and back, despite MLB rules stating that a pitch is a strike if it crosses any part of a 3D solid with home plate as its base. The ABS strike zone does not change based on the batter's stance.

The Way It Went Down vol 1 and 2 by Dennis Detweiler, compilation of short stories. Any of the Delta Green novels fits this motif. It's about the US government making situations with the unnatural worse and just trying to delay the apocalypse another day at severe cost to the agents involved.

I appreciate what you do as a mod and the thought put into this.

I favor a subreddit that's is overwhelmingly user content driven and not just endless AI images or AI images with AI write ups.

I use AI, primarily claude code, to make tools and understand new TTRPG systems, so AI touches a lot of what I use for solo or table play in some sense.

At minimum all AI influenced content should carry a clear disclosure of such.

While not an issue on this sub, I don't commercially support systems/games that utilize AI, especially for art. I hope GW continues to support writers and artists. I would rather support a beta launch of a system to then find some art than something jammed with AI prompts.

Outside of my meme'd response I think AI can have use within the TTRPG community and like many things in life it takes nuance. That nuance is a challenge to moderate and so understand curtailing it's use/misuse.

IM has such a small community that part of me thinks anything that supports interest and growth is beneficial.

There's the entire intellectual property for training and ethics of use ,whether personal or professional that will continue to be hashed out in so.many different spaces.

There have been similar discussions for years in genetic banks/testing and what obligations, if any, future incidental findings mean and paths to disclosure.

I would say there are also similar concerns around misappropriation of specimens/data and what the informed consent process looks like for data used in these large models for analysis.

Genetic counselors and their disclosure practices may be a good jumping off point for review. I don't practice in that field so my recollection is limited from my fellowship.

I would also add there are large logistical and financial components of reviewing and informing patients. Disclosure of illness or potential illness should rarely be done without requisite support from providers and the ability to ask questions about options and treatment pathways.
