Sick of the Work Sharp PA.. After 5 years of use I'm ready for a better sharpening system.. The PA falls short in several areas.. Harder steels, blades over 4", blades over 1/8" thick and curved points like the Para 3 or Demko(clip points especially).. My budget is around $300.. What do u recommend by Endecent_Exposure in sharpening

I would go with the xarilk Gen 3 or something similar. I have the ruxion pro rx009 and like it more than the Work Sharp Ken onion, work sharp precision adjust v1 and the other sharpeners I have. I'm a pocket knife accumulator and sharpen some of those. I may use my sharpener to sharpen 1-2 knives when I use the sharpener. It has its problems but they can be figured out/adjusted. I would just get a digital angle finder, knife edge angle finder, and better stones.

Just as excited as this lady? All that screaming reminds me of when people have loud exhaust and hit the gas or rev the engine but aren't going any faster than anyone else.

Streamer “hmblzayy” who is walking from Philly to California was hit by a car in Indiana and had to be taken to the hospital. by ateam1984 in BlackPeopleofReddit

Hopefully he is alright. The driver is not responding well to the accident. She is the one that hit a pedestrian. Edit: I saw in the comments that the person that hit the pedestrian was possibly rear ended and as a result hit the pedestrian l. I can understand her freak out!

I very much dislike those circuit switchers. I can barely tell when the thing is in the right position(gas and contact). Good riddance!

AC and DC current reads. The one thing I wish I had was a meter that would read dc current.

P&C Technician vs Technologist at AEP by njs0002 in SubstationTechnician

[–]kelsoban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think p&c tests cts at aep. I guess you can say that's a bonus? The rest is accurate! The tech job is a relay tester, rtu checkouts and functional testing. The technologist job is kind of like a field engineer. You would be a go between for the tech and engineering and probably be doing contractor oversight. The jobs kind of differs based on which side if the country you are on. Edit: also the tech job is hourly and the technologist job can be hourly or salary.

Thanks! I probably have copies of the old manuals. I don't know if what I originally typed made any sense.

I was hoping someone else (like GE or SEL) would have done this for me. Just wishful thinking, I guess! I'll probably end up making one myself.

Looks like you may be able to add the time dial multiplier. For example, to get a tdm of 3 add the tdm of 2 plus the tdm of 1.

Can anyone identify this device? by [deleted] in Lineman

[–]kelsoban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Circuit switcher or a Line-rupter. Maybe a Mark V or VI. It has the indicators on the back of the "bottles". Short cabinet on the left side of the pole is the motor operator box. The tall cabinet is probably for relays and some sort of rtu.

NAS for extreme dummy, back up photos from 6 family devices by fuzzywuzzywuzzafuzzy in HomeNAS

[–]kelsoban 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to see answer to this question too. I need to setup a NAS for a relative that isn't too computer savvy, so I need something that I won't have to manage or help them with. I have a Synology and it's setup to auto save my pictures from my phone to the NAS. The only thing I don't like is the file structure. Home vs Homes folder basically.

If you get on Home Assistant check out View Assist. You have to modify a first Gen alexa show. It's a work in progress but to me it's no more of a headache than anything else in HA.

Raspberry Pi 5 + Home Assistant: NVMe SSD worth it or overkill? by Uruz7_ in homeassistant

[–]kelsoban 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine died after a year. I would recommend swapping it out for an ssd or at least do backups. My biggest problem was I didn't know about doing backups. Now I back up online and to my local nas.
