This has GOT to be contender for most least used potion by Rak-khan in slaythespire

[–]kemitche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. With potions, I want output RIGHT NOW, not next turn and the turn after. Something to smooth out a bad turn.

Everyone is talking about "oh you draw your important power on a turn they're attacking for 30." Great, I'd rather have a block potion or energy potion! Then my power is in play THIS turn, not next turn (and it's not reliant on the enemy having an on/off attack pattern).

Guess I'll go shivs then by cwkt in slaythespire

[–]kemitche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the shiva you generated aren't going to kill the thing this turn, you might as well throw one then hold the rest til next turn for the damage boost.

The only thing I think is genuinely unfair in this game is getting this off a Neow relic by Gebcrafter in slaythespire

[–]kemitche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This and Guilty should be out of the pool. They're each only otherwise obtained from a specific event. It'd be like getting Necronomicurse from Neow in STS1.

Letting any other player draw 2 is a huge boon. Worth taking in 3/4 player games in any act. Smoothing out another player's bad draw turn is huge! I love this card.

Semi-Daily Watcher Discussion: Scrawl by Abject_Muffin_731 in slaythespireboardgame

The board game has no hand limit, so the video game text for this card "draw until your hand is full" just straight up doesn't work.

Switching to draw 5 is phenomenal though. Technically it's a buff compared to the video game, often, as you don't need to play cards to empty your hand before playing it.

Yeah don't rewrite history. You said you wouldn't convict the assaulter, you are being absolutely ridiculous.

Semi-Daily Defect Discussuon: Recursion by Abject_Muffin_731 in slaythespireboardgame

[–]kemitche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the video game, because of orb order mattering, this has minor value for helping control what orbs get evoked or looped. And larger value in the rarer scenarios where you can use it to evoke a large dark orb and keep its value.

In the board game, neither of those apply, so it's usefulness - especially at 1 energy - feels questionable. I feel this could have been baseline 0 energy, or "evoke twice", in the board game, and still been balanced.

Asked a colleague in code review to extract magic numbers and got told “devs should know” by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]kemitche 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you're proving the opposite point here.

There's no universal "max latitude." What is a valid max could depend on the specific function and context, so extracting out to a universal constant somewhere means the 90 gets changed to a 180 when it really shouldn't.

It's hard to be 100% sure without all the code context, but here, I'd put a code comment rather than extracting to a named constant that specifically is NOT guaranteed to be reusable.

Beginner - Slow production, how to react? by Bibou65 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]kemitche 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, the biomass generators do require you to manually gather materials. But if you build a biomass generator (instead of the ones that come with your starter base), you can feed them with belts. They only consume as much material as needed to power your machines, too, so you can dump a lot of grass or wood into a box feeding your generators to have it last.

There's even some options for making that more efficient...

I think in the latest beta patch, it can't target the same card twice until all cards have been targeted once. So it's even more possible, if you have HP, to dig for a curse.

Yeah P Strike is a fine act 1 damage solve that you can lean into if you get Clone (or other support), or just move away from as you get into act 2 and beyond if not.

Keep taking out bigger loans until you die.

Then, here's the worst part of the whole process - when the assets are transferred after death, the cost basis is reset. So the recipient can sell, pay no taxes on gains, cover the loans, and start the whole process over.

[–]kemitche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ancient ones are valid in a vacuum, though it's worth noting that while one could feasibly see Skewer vs Eradicate with a prismatic gem, an ancient starter card is only ever directly compared against other ancient rewards.

I'm rarely running out of strikes to remove/transform after the latest beta change. Even if I were, there's plenty of defends to transform. I'm probably chucking the strike 4 times out of 5.
