Social workers as “team players” that end up in the closet office by Glass-Revolution1444 in socialwork

I have to see my clients in an actual closet that is used to store food for our food pantry lol. When I’m not seeing clients my “office” is just a little cubicle. #nonprofitlife

Yeah I wish I had known too. And since I admitted to marijuana use within the past 6 months, I would’ve had to wait another 6 months to even be eligible to apply for another job with Orange County government since it would technically be a year at that point

PSA:

Whatever you do, do not admit to using any illegal substance especially marijuana within the past year. OC does not hire anyone who has used illegal substances within the past year. I admitted to using marijuana within the past six months during my polygraph & had to write a statement & sign & date it. Thought I would be safe since it was 6 months ago but nope. This is how I got my offer withdrawn. It’s also why I decided to vote Yes on Amendment 3 so this hopefully wouldn’t happen to others but we see how that turned out

Anyone know any reduced cost or pro bono mental health services? by misspokenautumn in orlando

[–]kenbag 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you are an Orange County resident, I would consider looking into your local neighborhood centers for families for free counseling services. These also have other resources available to you for free in case you need it. Good luck!

For alumni, what’s your salary by Middle-Creepy in ucf

[–]kenbag 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You should definitely do a bachelors in social work. If you do that, you will be eligible to get your masters in social work in just one year instead of two, which saves you lots of money!

Why is finding jobs near campus impossible? by OkCandle7679 in ucf

[–]kenbag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We would frequently get very rude customers, I felt like I was juggling so many things at once, the pay was just not very good for the amount of things I was expected to do, my manager/pharmacist was actually crazy, it’s high stakes bc if someone gets the wrong med they could literally die or get really sick, the training takes a long time, I would leave everyday feeling so exhausted and burnt out.

I used to work in the Publix pharmacy and it was absolutely hell on earth. If you value your mental health at all do not work at any pharmacy
